2008 academy award show

Oh please, the world is full of self-congratulatory bullshit like this. The fact that I can be entertained by these people for several dozen hours a year is a good enough reason to pat themselves on the back.

I watch the movies to be entertained and some of these people do a pretty damn good job of it, so I have no problem seeing them get rewarded for it. Are the majority of them overpaid? Totally. But I have sat through Investment Bankers' (immensely overpaid as well) awards shows and those were even more painful, so I'll stick with the Oscars which can at least provide a little entertainment along the way.

Ain't nobody giving them awards for saving lives. They're getting awarded for their acting/filming abilities.

But hey, if you really want to watch people save lives, stop watching and threadcrapping and go watch doctors do what they do at a hospital.

I'm not watching...

And that's my entire issue with it. They get awards and fame and fortune for making movies, a lot of them bad ones, and people who actually do good work get jack.

the best part of the 2008 oscars is all the nimrods on perezhilton complaining that brad renfro wasn't in the 'in memoriam'. hahaha, i know who he is and i still don't think he belonged there.

i'm surprised they didn't mention roy scheider, even if he just missed the cutoff date.

Then again, Out of Africa and Chicago didn't deserve the accolade, either...
