The thing is though that the Lakers should have won this game since they are at home and they did. I expect the Nuggets to win at home and then Lakers win it back at home to close the series.

Ugly game on both sides. Lakers were just less ugly tonight.

Yeah, but Kobe (even w/7 TO's), Gasol and Odom played great.

Lakers have to wonder if this Odom will show up next game or will the magic act return.

I'm thinking today before the game he had some good candy.

Woooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! my 1st time warp

I wouldn't say they played great. They played well enough to win. Odom had a good showing tonight compared to his usual contribution. He even had a 3. Gasol showed some nice defense in the middle. Kobe had 22 points. Overall, meh. The Lakers are lucky that Denver sucked tonight when it counted. The Nuggets really struggled in the 4th.

Kobe's and Gasol's impact went beyond statistics. They orchestrated the offense wonderfully. Kobe had a lot of "hockey assists".

Kobe went for 22/5/8 and took only 13 shots.

All the starters took between 7-13 shots. Odom took 15.

I know and he's fit too. I mean I know they run a lot on the court for workout but the way he munches them down he must be working out some more. If not Odom gonna turn into barkley after his playing career if he doesn't cut down on the candy and junkfood.

The Nuggets were 39% from the field, 77% FTs (LA was slightly worse), and 30% from the arc (LA was way worse). Despite the poor shooting from the floor by Denver, LA still only won by 9 and the score separation didn't come until the 4th quarter. Kobe shot below 50% from the field, was 1-6 from three, and had 7 Tos.

It was a win by LA but it definitely was not a pretty win. Any win is a good win though.

Kobe was only one shot under 50% - he shot 6/13. And 22 pts on 13 shots is super efficient, plus has to make his teammates feel good. Again, his impact went way beyond statistics. I'm not even a Kobe "guy", but he truly played a wonderful game.

I agree there was some sloppiness., but Phil Jackson has much to be pleased with. Time to get Odom some more candy!

Sigh, I wish I saw the game. I only know the numbers, so I don't really have any input other than that I am pretty happy with the result. I still think the Lakers are not playing up to their potential. I also think that the Nuggets have better execution than the Lakers, and, IMO, Melo deserves to be among the league elite discussions.

They almost never play up to their potential. Only when they have thier backs against the wall. They won't win in Denver but will certainly win at home in game 7.

Just got back from the game. Im glad the Lakers pulled it out, it could have easily gone the other way if the Nuggets got hot in the 4th. I hope they put out a better effort for game 6, and dont rely on the home court again. The Nuggs are definatly not the Rockets.

typical lakers for you. they're one of the best if not the best team in the NBA, but they rarely play like it.

personally, i'd like to see Kobe win a ring without Shaq, and they're lucky: they'll have homecourt over the Magic, so it's possible if they can just play 4 solid games at home. though i'll be rooting for Orlando, i always like and underdog when i don't really care for either team.

(yeah, i'm jumping the gun here a bit, but i don't see the finals being anything but lakers-magic at this point)

That is not what is written in David Stern's prophecy. We are all witnesses to the Chosen One.

the refs really let both sides play and foul each other during the key stretch in the 4th.. helped the lakers more, but it was called evenly during that stretch (as in denver got away with some calls too).

Kobe was also forced to take three or four shot clock expiration shots, at least two of which would have been amazing shots had they gone in. This is part of the reason guys like Kobe and D-Wade ultimately end up with lower 3PT% than they should; they often have to bail out their teams with time running out, because who else is going to take those shots?
He was very selective tonight and (effectively) 6/9 for 22 points is fantastic. The only downside was those 7 TO's, but quite a few of those as well were the result of the defense collapsing on him when he drove, knocking the ball away (foul? seems like one or two more should have been called), point being he was still trying to make the 'right' play.

I like LeBron. Not a big fan of Mo Williams. I liked him during the regular season, but he's been such a cocky shithead in the postseason. Hey Mo: the team doesn't revolve around you. LBJ leaves, Cavs are, at best, 8th seed in the East. Know your role.

LeBron needs to go to a team like Portland. And yes, I'm only saying that because I live in Portland. But the point stands.

So what is more likely? The Lakers losing 2 in a row, or the Cavs winning 3 in a row?

It hurts me to say this, but I think it is more likely that the Lakers blow this.
