I like what's going on in the west. Should make for a short stanley cup final.

Taking a look at the (currently) leading goaltenders' stats in the west:

Jimmy Howard - GAA: 1.26 and Sv%: .961 (in this round)
Jonathan Quick - GAA: 1.40 and Sv%: .954 (in the playoffs)

Those performances alone can win a series. So, I wouldn't count your chickens yet.


As for the Chi-Det series... Watching Toews sulk and whine in the face of adversity should make any Blackhawks fan wish they had a different leader.

Well, he's normally not like this. He's frustrated. He's had Zetterberg shadowing him so closely he might as well put on Toews' jersey.

Mickey York on Fox Sports Detroit did have me laughing when he was recapping the game and describing Toews going to the penalty box as, "and he cried wee wee wee all the way to the penalty box."

He should have gotten a game misconduct for slashing Zetterberg with a ref standing between them when a play was dead... Hes frustrated and acting like a child.

Yeah, one bad series should see a guy crucified. Holy overreaction, Batman. If the Hawks win on Sat it's still a batter than 75% chance they win the series.

It might be time to take Bowman and Q to task just a bit. Obviously Handzus was not enough at the deadline, and Q has really overcoached this series. The Hawks need to sign or develop guys like Brent Burns; big, tough, heavy, nasty guys who can actually play with skill players. The refs obviously have no interest in calling interference penalties on Detroit, and the Hawks haven't been able to react it.

Just to further emphasize how ludicrous that statement was, historically speaking, NHL teams who've gone W-L-L-L at home-home-away-away are a combined 0-30 in their respective series. Not a single team has come back in this particular situation.

Wow some serious bias here. Their chances are very diminished at this point, get real about it. Also the bad ref calls have gone both ways for all the games I've watched (aka all of them).

Not only would Howard have to falter, but Toews would have to end his 20-something game playoff choke streak.

Pavel and Hank would have to start playing like the ~200th picks they are, to stop embarrassing their #1 and #3 pick counterparts.

Then Chicago's "depth" the press keeps going on and on about would actually have to start playing against Detroit's rookie line that has been skating circles around them.

Hossa would have to do *something*.

And coach Babcock would have to be in a coma.

Then maybe we would see "floodgates".

You're dillusional. The bad calls have been going both ways. I get mad at bad calls / no calls for EITHER team, but I find it quickly corrects itself pretty much every time.

In other words, you're ignoring the bad calls / no calls for the Wings. I could make the same ignorant argument, but I'd look stupid because hey, we're winning

As far as dominating game 4, that's wrong too. First period possibly due to all of our turnovers in the zone (9!!!!) but hawks did not capitalize on a single one. I call that a failure on their part, and the opposite of domination.
