I respect Detroit, but after the Hawks woke up they dominated the game.

I'm thinking 5 games total.

I sure don't want to be premature (although I kind of am), but I just don't think Detroit has the defensive presence to win four games in this series. That Brendan Smith guy was pathetic; we might not see him again.

It's a depth issue. The Hawks 1st and 2nd lines match up or can overpower Detroits 1st line. That leaves the hawks 3rd line to wear down the 2nd and the 4th line is just icing on the cake. Over the course of a game it's just too much.

Detroit just looks like a completely different team even if they're missing just 1 key guy.

I thought Detroit's 4th line with all the rookies played the best.

Detroit looked tired, no second effort on anything, yet they hadn't played since Sunday. This is not the same team that played the Ducks or the same team that at least competed with Chicago in the regular season. I have no answers.

It'll be a short series unless they can find their legs.

I'm not very plugged in to Detroit's roster but how did he get in the line up over Ian White?

Based on this morning's pre-game skate it looks like Boston will be rolling out three rookies on D tonight against NY. One making his NHL playoff debut, another player has two NHL playoff games under his belt, and one with three games of NHL playoff experience. Oh man... Rask better be sharp.

Patrick Sharp played like he was possessed and I didn't think Oduya would be back after he got crushed early in the first.

White had several early season injuries, and still had a nagging one from late last year. He looked meh they few games he played early in the season. It's a shame too, before last year's injury he was having a career year.

Last time he came back Babs was like lolno.

Dekeyser is the defenseman of the future.

Gotcha. So Lashoff may be in for Smith Saturday?

... Smith does appear to be the new liability. Which is saying a lot considering Erickson held a grip on that role for years.
Smith had a really rough game last night. On other nights, he's been very impressive. He's a rookie, and like all of them, consistency is something that he'll learn. Just like Ericsson did, and he's now part of a #1 defensive pairing.

Yeah, the Wings sure played flat last night. But it's really not surprising, since they just came off an intense series. Similar to how they played Game One against Anaheim, after needing to win the last four games to make the playoffs.
The fact that they hung in for ~50 minutes is actually encouraging.

The big concern is their third period play. They've been outscored 15-5 in eight games... Giving up an average of (almost) two goals in the third period is alarming.

I fractured my right foot a couple years back. The X-ray showed "hairline" too. But I couldn't even walk on it... any weight and the pain was unbearable. I guess there are different degrees of fractures - either that or they have some pretty potent pain killers in the back room. Mine was in the middle outside of the foot and I couldn't skate for 8 weeks.

Ovi didn't show any injuries at all. If anything, Backstrom seemed hurt.

Ofractchkin? I kid I kid!

Hockey players are tough. Any other sport and they'd be taking months off for a fracture.

ofakingchokin-chikin, something like that...anyways, good thing he's resting that foot in the motherland. oh wait...

Nice job by the Bruins to hold off the Rangers' frantic defensive onslaught in overtime.

Seriously, Bruins dominated OT, but that's not always enough to win. Glad they got the break they needed.

Hockey is a funny game.

SJ was my trendy "dark horse" pick to win it all after the way they shut down a good Nucks team. I thought that possibly they had put it all together to make a deep postseason run, and I was pretty glad the Hawks avoided them in rd 2.

And now the look like the keystone cops and are being totally outclassed by an LA team that, all truth be told, was not the better team for long stretches against the Blues and might not have made it into the second round if the Blue's goalie hadn't thrown up all over himself.

And of course as soon as I post that SJ starts finding their game and scores two quick goals.
