I've always been interested in Fallout 3 or NV, and have researched them in prior Steam sales but never bit. For someone who has never played any Fallout games, what are people's recommendations on which to buy?

original fo3 left such a bad taste in my mouth that I'm a bit reluctant to jump on NV. Is it worth playing if I hated the original FO3 vanilla?

was Hegemony Philip of Macedon removed from Steam? It was on sale, and now it's still on my wishlist with no price at all and no store page.

I did not care for FO3 either, but I enjoyed New Vegas.

I only played New Vegas for a few hours (keep going back to left 4 dead 2).

One of the things I liked about NV over FO3, is New Vegas holds you hand just long enough for you to get the hang of the game. The sheriff bots prevent you from wondering into areas that are past your ability. The first couple of quest are easy, as in you go get a couple of things.

In fallout 3 you are dumped in the wasteland, and what now?

New Vegas provides some help to get you started.

i never played fallout 1 or 2... i did play fallout 3 and i loved it. I liked the hybrid style of FPS/RPG style, and i liked the story (i didnt do A LOT of the side quest, even though i did some)

i never jumped into NV, but people say its good.

did you play skyrim? it plays pretty much the same in gameplay, but with firing weapons and in a post-apocaliptic future setting

Just FYI: If there's a game you're waiting for to go "on sale" that hasn't popped up yet, CHECK THE TITLE ANYWAY.

For example, I saw that Star Ruler was on the list of games to be in the sale, but it hasn't been listed yet. I checked the other day, and it was listed at 75% off despite not having been on any of the daily sales to date.

Moral of the story: Check your wanted title list. Doesn't mean they won't go cheaper on a daily sale, but it means you'll have the comfort of knowing you'll have till the 23rd to buy it.

Star Ruler does seem interesting. I wonder if the game is any fun, or is just another "good idea, poor implementation" story.

Fallout 3 and Fallout: NV are easily in my top 10 favorite games of all time.

I wasn't doing any gaming when the first two Fallout games were released and haven't really bothered to give them a solid attempt. My opinion isn't influenced by the earlier games, for what that's worth.

You could really just flip a coin to pick one to start with. Both are buggy Bethesda open world games. NV has a little more UI polish but plays exactly the same as 3. The stories are independant from one another.

NV starts off a little quicker than 3, so maybe that is the one to try first. 3 literally takes 45 minutes just to get going outside of the Vault.

Great, thanks guys. Based on your recommendations, I think I'll go for F:NV.

Seems that all the stuff I want is on flash sales either when I'm asleep or at work. They need to scrap this BS.

YES! Red Faction Guerilla won the community vote. I've been meaning to pick up this game for a long time, but it's never reached the $5 mark until now. I'm buying this so hard.

Seriously, consider getting it. Guerilla is generally considered the best in the Red Faction series, and it's famous for having one of the best destructable environment systems ever. Anything and everything in the game can be destroyed. You can take a hammer to a three-story building and watch it collapse in on itself, limb by limb.

Add games to your wishlist and check it daily. Easiest way to do this.

Agreed. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is still one of my favorite games of all-time. Good mix of puzzles, action, story....and a hot princess.

Sands of Time looks to be a game from 2003, while Prince of Persia 2008 is also available for the same price but gets so-so reviews. Do you recommend the older game over the newer one?

Was just going to ask the same question. From what I've read, the art on the 2008 game is amazing, but the game itself is easy, short, and repetitive. Sands of Time is universally loved on all fronts, although it's supposed to be fairly difficult (which most view as a good thing). At $2.50 each, I might grab the whole pack for a rainy day.

99% of the people you ask are going to recommend Sands of Time. Every time I see a thread about the Prince of Persia games, Sands of Time is ALWAYS regarded as the best game in the series, despite being a bit older.

I already own Sands of Time from a previous sale because so many people recommended it. Last night I picked up Prince of Persia 2008, as well as Forgotten Sands (the 2010 movie tie-in) so I have three of them in my collection now.

For $12 you can't really go wrong with the entire pack though.

Banking on this...[EDIT] Or I was, until the flash sale ended while I was debating, and now they're all back to $6.69. Oh well, have too many unplayed games in my list as it is

Quick! The complete pack is still $12!

Edit: Damn, it was for a minute there, now it went back up. Ah well, I bet it will probably be on a community vote in the next few days and go down again.

i played all PoP games...

the trilogy: sands of time, the 2 towers and darkness within (or something like that) are excelent games that follow a story somewhat connected. PoP 2 has a godsmack song in the game that always loved haha

The 2008 game is amazing too, the graphics are really nice and inspired, but the gameplay is a lot different. It has less fighting and more jumping. Although the jumping is so stylish and fun to look at, its easier than in the older games.

I enjoyed all the saga.

ah, one last comment...the last game has absolutely nothing to do with the old ones in terms of story, its like a completely different thing.

old saga = old school 3rd person action game with some puzzles and jumping
new game = stylish 3rd person jumping game with some action and i cant remember any puzzles right now

Im pretty sure you wont be dissapointed with any of the games
