BBT renewal is sort of the Peter Principle for TV.
(You keep getting promoted until you can't do the job...and then you stay there.)
When something is wrung out and the cast ready for new endeavours, throw money at everyone involved and run it to the ground.

No wonder. Saw the first epidode. A psychiatrist (or whatever he was) who doesn't set the woman cop locked in a torture box free, but instead closes the window she has so he can see how it feels, and a woman cop who sneaks into her parents' house at night to watch them sleep and who cuts herself. What's not to like?

Looks like Mentalist and Intelligence gone. This is a substantial amount of their weekly programming, and with Thursday being cancelled for the fall should many very few pilot programs next year.

Did mentalist at least wrap up the "red john" story before cancellation? Saw an episode titled "red john" on TV guide. Sux it's getting cancelled, I quite like it. It's like monk meets castle.

Great to see Elementary getting renewed. Too bad about the Mentalist though. I guess it makes sense, what with CBI being shut down and the Red John arc wrapped up.

It did. It was okay, but not all it could have been IMO.

Interesting, I thought Hawaii 5-0 was in trouble. I liked the show at first but I mostly got bored of it about a year ago and stopped watching. I never really cared for crime solving shows but it had me at first.

I tried to drop Hawaii-Five-O when it was still on Mondays because I wanted to free up my TV schedule slightly... Nope, still watching it. It's not the "best" show ever, but it's entertaining and hard to drop.

Only show I love that may be in trouble is Hannibal, but it just started a few weeks ago. Hope it gets renewed despite its 10pm Friday death slot.

hawaii 5-0 = turn brain off for an hour tv show. It's like watching a michael bay flick, except in 1 hour segments.

You don't need to follow the story line AT ALL, which makes it great for casual watching. Also: love(d) seeing the iron chef dude.

hawaii 5-0 is good for what it is- brainless entertainment. i would miss it if it gets cancelled.

H50&BB actually do pretty good for friday ratings. May not be the best shows, but as long as the can keep producing them at a decent cost level and the keep rating likw they do, could see them around for a bit.

When a show is 3 years old and doesn't have awful ratings, I don't know why networks even consider not renewing it with the syndication money out there.

Not sure, but wouldn't be surprised that BB does some filming in and around NYC since NY starting giving tax credits and other incentives to get more filming back in the state.

For H50, they do get similar discounts from the state as well as the GM deal.

What I noticed is that Grimm has slightly better 18-49 ratings, but Hawaii 5-0 has almost twice the total viewers. So it must be a big hit amongst senior citizens.

I never watch it, but does it come across as a show for old people? Is there a lot of nostalgia there from the original show?

my 86 year-old great aunt watches everything on CBS.

she turns it on for the 5 o'clock news and then just leaves it on as she drifts in and out of napping until 2-3 am (at which point she wakes up, walks around the house to make sure all the doors are locked, and goes to bed till about 7 am)

I was excited for Intelligence, but seeing that they are going back to Gabriel being hacked again next week, for the third time in one season, I think this show has run it's course.

So I am not one that normally gets annoyed by laugh tracks, but last night I was incredibly annoyed by CBS. I turned the tv on while I was doing some other things and it just happened to be on CBS while two broke girls was on. I could not see it but I could hear a laugh track going off every 5 seconds. So I started to pay attention to the show and there was not a single funny thing being said. In fact it seemed like one of the worst shows I have seen. Based on the laugh track these were the best comedians ever put on film. Then the next show came on and I dont even remember what it was and it was the same thing. There was a laugh track every 5 seconds and the jokes were not funny. How can people watch that crap? Normally I can tune it out and still enjoy the show but it got to the point that the laugh track was the funniest thing going on because of how ludicrous it was.

Is CBS the worst offender of this? I am trying to think of the other comdies i watch and most dont have one. The only 2 cbs comedies i watch are BBT and HIMYM. I know there is a laugh track on BBT but it has never bothered me. I actually could not tell you if there is one on HIMYM even though i watched an episode last night. If there is its way less intrusive. Its almost like they need to use the laugh track on 2 broke girls to make up for the fact the show it not funny.

I always wondered about that... Hawaii-5-0 is essentially one giant advertisement for Hawaii tourism and culture. Works pretty well too.

Lost should have been similar, but it wasn't set in Hawaii in the story.

I used to watch 2 Broke Girls. I was never really sure why as it wasn't that great. You can't even say that it's nice to watch for Kat Dennings, because the not-so-hot blonde offsets that. However, I had to stop after an episode where the whole joke was this guy says something and then remarks that he shouldn't have said it (funny right?). Well, the guy says, "brown chicken, brown cow" instead of the idiotic "bow chicka bow wow" cat call.

It might seem rather insignificant, but it stood out to me as what was probably the dumbest thing I have ever heard, and I sometimes venture into P&N!
