I understand that TV shows, especially network ones, cut corners with plot and believability, but Hostages' foundational premise takes this to a ridiculous extreme.
Which wasn't even the biggest problem, shows with crazy premises can be very successful. Three words: The Walking Dead. Even if you could buy the premise of Hostages, the show still sucks. The writing is dull, the characters utterly unlikeable (even the supposedly good guys) and every second of it is an old TV cliche piled on top of another old TV cliche. None of it is in the least bit interesting or original. It's not surprising that more people are not watching, it's shocking that anyone is still watching.
