Since the badge has 5 levels - something I remembered after selling some cards for 20 or 25 cents - there will be some demand for the whole sale.

Yea, but by the last two days of the sale, there will be thousands of them for sale; I'm guessing they will stop at around 12 cents.

I sold every summer sale card I had, until they dropped below around 40 cents, and I still have about 12 cards. One free card a day from voting, five cards because I'll probably spend around $50 total for the sale, and a ton of cards from making badges (sell high ones 40 cents and up, buy 12 cent card sets).

I bought natural selection last year on sale, haven't played it yet but it does look rather interesting. Voted for it so there would be nore players when I finally install it.

I don't disagree, but look at the supply....it goes up by thousands of cards every day. Every 24 hours EVERY Steam User over level 5 gets a card (if the voted in all three community votes).....that's a lot of cards. Plus a new card everytime you craft a badge and another new one if you spend $10 during the sale.......lots of supply.

The only reason I've noticed is because prices are now so low it's damn near impossible to trade for profit. I made a game out of it and was able to level that badge twice without spending a cent of real money (I used the cards I earned voting/spending and then day traded the cards until I had enough to buy the ones I needed).

Yes. I need to get a life. Or play some of the $%@%!! games I've purchased.

It takes awhile to get the hang of because they are a good handful of different things to learn. How well your team does really comes down to how good your commander is in many cases. The game is noob friendly though in a lot of ways. They have noob friendly servers that are highlighted different colors so people that play in them expect to play with noobs as well. When you first start playing your name is green to everyone else which lets them know you are new, also asking for help or what to do and the commander will tell you. If you can listen and take simple commands you are fine. A lot of times you are with 1-2 other teammates and you are ordered to defend this area or not go pass xxx.

A good player can obviously clean house like ANY online game and change the tide for his team.

My recommendation for people that first start playing is to play as the Marines only for awhile. They are much more straight forward and easy to understand as they play like a normal FPS. The Aliens are much more difficult to learn the game with and require a high level of skill and understanding due to how they are set up.

When I first started playing, one of my first few games I had a commander that helped out a bunch of the new people by giving us simple commands like hold this area and when other stuff would come up, he would tell us how to do xxx. A lot of people use voice comms in the game so it works out well.

Good info, but not all online games let some players wipe out as many other players as other games. A reasonable level is fine, an excessive level isn't.

I saw comments that some of the good players go to those 'newbie servers' just to wipe out a lot of new players.

One player who was defending the game said 'for every two games a pro player ruins it by wiping out teams of new players, you will have one game that's good making it worth it'.

I suspect the bar is a bit high on mp fps games nowadays with years and years of people who have played them. Sounds like good tips for peope who give it a try.

Still considering it, but not sure it's worth it if I'd not play much at all.

I strongly, strongly, strongly recommend Max Payne 3. It's without a doubt the most detailed, well-designed, expertly-engineered, adrenaline-fueled action game I've ever played. I payed $60 for it on release and I don't regret it one bit. $10 is highway robbery. It's a masterpiece of gaming.

waiting for it @ 4.99

Yup I got it. I just can't respond back until I make 25 posts here, but I sent it to you over Paypal and gave you my steamid so I'll see you when you are available!

Thanks btw for doing the 4 pack!

No offense but isn't there some trust with paypal on a 4-pack, and you have 2 posts?

No offense taken as it's a perfectly legitimate question. He asked for that or steambucks and since I'm new to steam and it's not fully 90 days yet (August 2nd) it was easier for me to use Paypal.

As for only having 2 posts that's because I just registered literally today. Normally I frequent other forums and just happened to google "Castle Crashers 4 pack buyin" with 24 hour time search requirement and found this thread. As I figured other people would be looking for people to buy in on it.

On FX2, based on asking for suggestions on Steam, I've picked up epic quest, and the 'avengers chronicles' and 'core' packs so far.

Gotcha; if people are reluctant to trust a new person, you might ask someone who has been here a while to help. If not, then it's working out.

How do the booster packs work? Do they drop when you a play a game that's eligible like regular trading cards, up to one per week? Or do you just randomly get one in your inventory like a lottery system?

Completely random. The one pack that I got was there when I logged in one day.

Also, they only drop for games in which you've depleted your card drops.

Hmm, alright. Anyone have any idea if there's a set time/day that they appear each week? At least I figure that's how it must work since your Steam level increases your chance of getting one...

Or maybe there's a reset date every week and the first time you login after a reset it calculates a chance to drop a booster pack for you?

It's dependent on people crafting badges. As I understand it, whenever someone crafts a badge a booster pack is dropped (or several...Steam doesn't say) to replenish the card supply lost when the cards are crafted.

I'm Level 12 have about 10 games with cards and have yet to get a booster pack. I guess that makes me due for one, lol.

That's dumb. So there is basically no way to complete badges without buying cards or getting stupid lucky?

Or trading with your friends. They want the cards to spur activity - either trading activity amongst Steam users or Steam Market activity.

That's why they're called.....Trading Cards.
