I highly, highly, highly, recommend Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. At $1.49 it's an absolute steal. But note: you MUST play this game with a dual stick controller. The entire control scheme is built around simultaneously controlling both brothers.

Total Biscuit described this game as one of the best he's ever played......

In regard to recent changes in UPlay, really? The most popular reviews on Steam are all huge negatives with regards to inability to play often due to UPlay. These were posted in November. A very vocal minority of users with issues?

I think they're talking about Uplay updating itself, sometimes very slowly, right when you want to play a game. It can take 5-10 mins sometimes. I have bigger problems than that, so I'm not going to spend time writing a negative review because of it. Others may disagree and think it's worth their time. Especially kids who get limited play time per day/week/whatever. Besides that, Uplay is a mostly invisible means to an end (good games).

Bought. Penny Arcade loved it too, and I usual like what those guys like.

I picket up the South Park game yesterday and have been playing it since then. I have to say, this game is even more fun than I expected. The combat is a blast, and of course the humor is top notch.

Seconded, Brothers is an absolute no-brainer for $1.50. But you absolutely need a controller as rivethead already pointed out.

Picked up 'Lords of Xulima' (rip off of the name 'Ultima' IMO) for $10.

Didn't get Dominons 4 yet but thought about it. Sale is over.

Greenmangaming has a lot of good sales again, check '24 hour deals' and remember the 20% coupon.

Bought this tonight. Played the first chapter myself, then invited the wife to join and started a new game. We played it through and loved it. She has never played a pc game besides stupid flash games etc. Probably best $1.50 ever spent for the amount of entertainment.

I used the KB to control the big bro, she used the 360 controller for the other. Only issue I found was turning the cranks with the KB. It could be done, just super slow.

Picked up DCS P-51. Planned on getting FW-190 and BF-109 later...

However, I'm very disappointed. There is no campaign (worth a damn, anyway), very few single missions, NO other period vehicles and planes, and you're still stuck flying over modern day Tbilisi.

Now, as sexy a locale as cosmopolitan Tbilisi is, it fails to invoke much in the way of WWII air combat memories.
All kidding aside, the plane and cockpit itself is drop-dead gorgeous, every detail is obviously meticulously detailed. If you JUST want to fly a P-51 and play with the knobs and buttons, you'll enjoy it.

But DCS, God bless 'em, need to REALLY work on the other stuff in their sims now, too: Actual campaigns, period vehicles, and actual maps from the era and region of combat.. I can certainly appreciate the hyper realism and downright insane attention to detail for the plane itself, but I feel like really fleshing out their games into a more cohesive package including all those other things, even if YOU the player can ONLY fly the P-51, is essential.

It's downright jarring coming from an old game like IL-2 1946, that modeled dozens of aircraft accurately across the entire world of WWII operational theaters, to just one single aircraft, a lonely sky, in one locale and with only modern units nearby.

I'm having much more fun with IL-2.

That's been my big gripe with the DCS series all along. The sterile environment just kills any fun no matter how good of a sim it may be. Falcon 4 still owns it for jet sims, and as you said, 1946 for WWII.

I wouldn't say a controller is absolutely necessary. I played through the whole game on my keyboard and never found it to be an issue.

According to the Steam sale page: "Notice: Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons requires a controller to play"

The steam store page for it *does* say that it requires a controller to play, though.

Edit: one minute too late.

It works without a controller, try it for yourself.

The history I remember vaguely is that there were enough complaints from people who felt it was much better with a controller they finally just said one is required.

So it's not technically required, but a lot of people were unhappy with the keyboard/mouse.

I haven't played yet.

I have this game on PS3. It's a twin stick game, so I can't see how you could play it with just a keyboard and mouse.

Tropico 5 is one of today's daily deals. Love me some Tropico.

Totally off topic, but how does a manufacturer, even an Indy one get buy selling games for $5?

I'm guessing the Steam cut is proportional to the price paid. The devs also have nearly zero expenses once a game is done, with Steam handling everything, so even selling 100,000 copies at $5, minus the Steam cut is good for small 2 man dev houses.

Terraria has sold over 3 million copies, and probably at least half for $2 on sale. They still update it with tons of content. At even a dollar to them, that's three million bucks.
