A quick comment on the GC thing.
I understand their arguments regarding Gridcoin.
My understanding is that the organizers aren't keen on having teams participating which shrug major cheating off as a mere technicality and put the responsibility on the project sites which were cheated.
Perhaps it should be by invitation only.
In a way, it is invitation-only. Although almost every team which wants to be invited, gets invited. (GC registered itself, then was unregistered by the admins.)
I actually surprised knowing there are actually GC members that care about competition.
There are so many that some are bound to care. Though I suppose their registration was mainly due to GC initiators caring about their scheme being advertised for free on competition leaderboards.

Many GC members were DC'ers long before GC was even a twinkle in the Dev's eye. To be fair the team has little control over what team members do which ultimately means a project admin is responsible for their project. GC actually stood up for themselves by saying they weren't going to let a lot of haters try and dictate how their core business is designed. Quite frankly they didn't break Collatz. slicker was behind on the times and had a flaw in his security setup. Someone whom could have came from anywhere exploited that. The only difference this time is that they also stole currency from GC's team members in the process. What GC needs to focus on is fixing how they pay out and regulate that in a more fair way. The project needs to focus on fixing themselves. The rest is just PR fluff.

IMO cryptocoins are not about fairness. To the contrary, and in many ways.
(That's the last which I say about GC in this thread.)

core business

Yeah I edited the crap out of it, but these are the key words. IIRC none of the other teams are a business. That is all I'm going to say.......

On another note, I wish my validation ratio for Universe was a whole lot better......... pushing 3:1 waiting vs valid.....

Well... I'm assuming you are defining their team as a "business" because they are getting paid to be contributing to it. IIRC your former team pays its Folders in EVGA bucks. And therefore is very much similar in nature. Sure those bucks are more limited but the basic concept is the same. So, if the team is a business, then so would EVGA. I personally don't like that way of looking at teams. But that should be a different thread altogether.

I did a few spot checks of my pending tasks. Quite a number of them are stuck because the wingmen are ARM hosts which failed the task with computation error. I saw ARM hosts which had errors at 100 % of their tasks.

On fewer of my pending tasks, the wingmen "timed out - no response". Which is nasty, given the 14 days deadline.

There is no thread needed since this is not the team even remotely involved, but Thanks for looking me up and my past!!! I'm honored!!

Didn't have to look you up. I watched the drama unfold. Sometimes a few members ruins it for the whole team. Glad you came to another good team. (At least in my eyes)

Hmm. 10 hours ago Jeeper posted his daily bulletin. But the translations still aren't up. And at this time of day (almost midnight here), my own translation capabilities are way down from standard.

teams who registered this year, compared to last year,
Oh, sadly, OcUK haven't registered this year. Last year they dented our rear bumpers and finished 11th. Though maybe we spot some of them supporting other teams.

Sad to hear OcUK as a team isn't participating. I have posted on the linked thread that they spelled TeAm AnandTech accidentally as SUSA.

I'm going to be late with the Weekly Stats, 2-3 hours from now you can expect them.

474 users yesterday in the Marathon, 678 users in the Swimming event, according to the chart above. Surely most users are running both projects. So, are there really so few participants this year?

With that said, our 14 active participants are kicking some booty!

The rather long tasks in NumberFields may have two effects: (a) Users may have shied away from this project altogether. (b) FreeDC may have shown fewer people getting credit there yesterday than people actually running it, if they returned results after free-dc pulled stats.

The user count at Universe on the other hand surely includes some who run the project without involving themselves with the contest, as well as people who aren't actually running the project now but got credit for work they did some time earlier and was validated only now. On the other hand, my method of counting users missed those who turned in Universe results but got none of them validated yesterday already.

I retract my former complaint, regarding this year's stats being less useful than last year's stats page. Either they have made (positive) changes, or I just didn't wait long enough for all the features to show up.

Re Swimming/ Universe@home, and "validation pending":

When I ran Universe occasionally between their February reboot and Pentathlon, validation was a mixed bag. Sometimes large batches were left waiting for validation for many days, but this was especially during the phase were they were still ironing out serious bugs in their new Black Hole Database application. Later there were stretches when most tasks validated pretty quickly.

Though I suspect that now that more users with mixed projects on their hosts are active at Universe again (besides the early testers), validation may now take a bit longer again on average than during March/ early April. The rather low quota of 8 tasks in progress per CPU effectively reduces turnaround times on hosts which run Universe exclusively, but not on hosts which run a mixed bag of random projects.

Honestly I think the issue with Universe and it's validation is on their end. I've seen many, many tasks in "Waiting validation" but when I click on them both tasks have been submitted and waiting validation.

Well I just looked through ~100 of my waiting validation tasks and they're all waiting on the wingman. So maybe the server has caught up to the demand since everyone dropped their bunkers.

It really bothers me that they refer to my team as OCP. Can they not include the H? HOCP I would be okay with.

The German original affectionately refers to you as the hard ones (in the wake of the Hard ones, "im Kielwasser der Harden", from "die Harten" in standard German, t replaced by d in some dialects, likely including Jeeper's local one).

*shrugs* I dunno, maybe point it out there in the shoutbox or something over there instead of here? They seem to pay attention to it pretty close from what I have seen.
