Further worsening the situation, you have police failing to do their job, Trump inciting the mob further and Trump delaying the National Guard response.
We got freakishly dang lucky, this did not turn into a full on horrible event with destruction of the foundations of the constitution. We literally had the executive branch almost completely hold the legislative branch hostage on 1/6/2021.
