Can one buy the truck yet?
If they pull it off$50 reservation:
Notes:
* American-made with 150-mile & 240-mile range options
* Deliveries are due to start at the end of 2026 (so 2027 for most people)
* $27,500 base + $7.5k Federal tax incentive = $20k effective starting price
This thing isn't going anywhere in the North American market. I could maybe see it gaining some traction in Central and South American markets but no way this thing gains any traction in North America. This is a niche product at best and is not what the vast majority of North American truck buyers are interested in.
A 2dr truck with hand crank windows standard, no AM/FM radio, piss poor payload capacity, RWD only, and 1K towing.....c'mon get outta here. LOL The base price may sound nice until you don't qualify for the tax credit. I can get into a Ford Maverick for around the same price and it has better base specs and things like you know.....a stereo system.
I just don't see a $20k pickup selling in the US, at least not with the features people typically will want in their automobile.
Come back when they have a real price and product instead of hyped vaporware.
I would be tempted by a low cost, 2 door, 6' bed, simple radio with bluetooth, 4wd, that had the suspension for 1 ton in the bed. Give it hand crank windows, Idgaf.I just don't see a $20k pickup selling in the US, at least not with the features people typically will want in their automobile.

IDK man I'll have to wait and see on this one. It's not even in the same ballpark as the CT and it doesn't have the backing of Tesla either. While that may seem like a good thing now in the long term it may not be.1. Based on the CT's inflation, I doubt they can achieve $20k
2. The customizability will be HUGE! I want to do a Pizza Planet one!! We got refunds on our CT reservations lol

Okay. You might buy it, but I still don't see widespread market appeal. People clearly have no problems buying new, existing pickup trucks at current prices based on what I see on the road.I would be tempted by a low cost, 2 door, 6' bed, simple radio with bluetooth, 4wd, that had the suspension for 1 ton in the bed. Basically an electric Tacoma with upgraded suspension and stripped down everything else. For not $50k.
At this time it it does not offer these options. You can clip a BT speaker to the dash though so that's a thing......right?I would be tempted by a low cost, 2 door, 6' bed, simple radio with bluetooth, 4wd, that had the suspension for 1 ton in the bed. Give it hand crank windows, Idgaf.

This ^ is me, it's been me my entire life. The truck I have now is the perfect truck for me, just like the last one was. Vinyl seats and rubber floors so I can take a hose to the interior when it gets dirty, hand crank windows, heat, air conditioning and an AM/FM radio that has Android auto. That's it for the interior, everything I need, nothing I don't.IDK man I'll have to wait and see on this one. I see this this truck selling to older men who harken back to the days when they owned a 2dr '96 Ranger XL and it was the best truck ever "Because it was just basic and it was all I needed. No nonsense BS like cars have now."......I can already hear the 68+ crowd echoing this sentiment but the fact is they are a niche buyer with limited income and are a small percentage of the overall NEW car buying market.
You should look a Ford Maverick then. It is more capable than the Slate and comparably priced it also comes standard with more options. It is also real which is a big plus.This ^ is me, it's been me my entire life. The truck I have now is the perfect truck for me, just like the last one was. Exterior is an 8' bed, 9k lb towing, 1500lb fork lift loadable lumber rack, and 6 ply tires. It's also white, just plain old vanilla white. I absolutely love this truck. It looks great and I love driving it.
My wife's Escape has all the bells and whistles one could wish for, and it does nothing for me. When we go anywhere together we take my truck.
Cute. You posted the same image when I told you my Mach-E was a real Mustang and you disagreed. You're showing your age old man.

The Maverick isn't a viable work truck. It's cute, and probably has enough utility to work for me at this point in my life, but I wouldn't trade my F150 with 175K on it for a new Maverick.You should look a Ford Maverick then. I know I just like ribbing you about the Mach-E and Fords decision to call it a Mustang. I know it's not a Mustang I just like having fun with it.It's a Mach-E ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
FWIW, I don't consider the 4-cylinder Ecoboost to be a "real" Mustang either.. V-6 or V-8 ICE, RWD, 2-door is the magic formula to me! But the late-model V-6 is the "rental car" option; the 4-cyl turbo is so much better in practice lol.
Looks sharp, the lines remind me of my '10 Camaro.I know I just like ribbing you about the Mach-E and Fords decision to call it a Mustang. I know it's not a Mustang I just like having fun with it.
On a completely different topic. My brother in law texted me today and sent me some photos of his new EV. He has been talking about it for years and finally pulled the trigger on Dodges latest EV. Yeah a Dodge EV!!!!
