Hi.
every day i thinking what is the best option for me and still i have no idea
thats my rig:
Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme4
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670K @4.4Ghz+h100
Memory: ADATA XPG V2 Series Gold 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz CL9
Hard Drive: Seagate 1TB
Video Card: iGPU HD 4600
Monitor: Asus VG248QE 144Hz FHD
Sound Card: Realtek HD
Headphones: Sennheiser PC320
Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K70
Mouse: Roccat Kone Pure Optical
Mouse Surface: Roccat Taito 3mm
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Service Pack 1
PSU: SeaSonic G Series SSR-550RM
Computer Case: CoolerMaster CM690 II
only gpu i need right now.
mostly i play bf4, and any other games as well diablo 3, wow, etc.
so far 290x cost 676.87$ CAD, and 780SC w/ACX 631.67$CAD (tax incl.) or
Zotac AMP for 597.77$CAD. 780 i can get right now, for 290x i have to wait.
not sure is it point to wait for 290x with aib coolers, i mean than i can oc but is my 550w enough for it? (cpu is oc'ed as well to 4.4 at 1.25V) and for sure 290x with non-reference cooler gonna be more expensive.
also can i set 144hz with radeon?

1.I would personally upgrade the PSU if you plan to oc the 290X

2.Can you check in the Asus/MSI/Gigabyte forums when they are gonna release the non reference cards?

3.At your resolution it is mostly a wash between 780 vs 290X but if you plan to upgrade to 1440/1600P 290X can edge out 780.

I am not sure about the 144Hz thing.

Wait for the AIB Radeon R9 290's for approx $430 CDN.

Leave the Reference R9's for those whom intend to Water Cool.

Quote from TECHSPOT Regarding AIB R9 290's
Quote:
I took the IceQ X2 cooler off the HIS Radeon R9 280X and stuck it on our R9 290 sample. Cooling was dramatically improved. The FurMark stress test maxed out at 76 degrees while the card never exceeded 63 degrees in Crysis 3 and Battlefield 4. So it seems as expected the board partners will be able to solve the heat issues of the reference card.

thx for reply.
im not plan to upgrade psu (this one is new), also no need for now bigger res than FHD.
want to buy decent gpu for next 2 years, without upgrade (no sli/cf)
290 is right now for 440$CAD (without tax) it's new hope price drop a little soon.
i just need anything to handle min 60fps up to 120/144 in multi bf4 (of course not at ultra with msaa, custom detail)
custom cooling late nov
dunno can i wait that long on my igpu

How about risk to customize a R9 290-NonX by yourself? Can't believe there is a better choice.

Ill wait another week, if nothing comes up from amd vendors i just grab one of 780s (SC or AMP)

still thinking still waiting ;/ but maybe i have answer for my question, witch one? 780 or 290.
since i have 144hz asus VG248QE, which option will be better (for fps)
290 at 120/144hz or 780 with g-sync and have no problems like tearing, lag etc.
im so close to buy 780 amp, than wait for 290 with custom cooling, its gonna be card for at last next 2 years, so i don't want to make huge mistake

since your monitor supports do-it-yourself G-sync chip installation you have to decide if you are going to buy that chip for USD 100

http://www.legitreviews.com/nvidia-shows-g-sync-blizzcon-2013_128230

" NVIDIA confirmed to us that will be offering G-SYNC do-it-yourself kits for the ASUS VG248QE monitor, which is a very popular 144Hz gaming display that has been out for nearly a year. The upgrade process requires about 30 minutes of time and just a Philips screwdriver."

http://techreport.com/blog/25542/a-few-thoughts-on-nvidia-g-sync

"In order to make G-Sync happen, Nvidia had to build a new chip to replace the one that goes inside of most monitors to do image scaling and such. You may have noticed that the first version of Nvidia's solution uses a pretty big chip. That's because it employs an FPGA that's been programmed to do this job. The pictures show that the FPGA is paired with a trio of 2Gb DDR3 DRAMs, giving it 768MB of memory for image processing and buffering. The solution looks to add about $100 to price of a display. You can imagine Nvidia could cut costs pretty dramatically, though, by moving the G-Sync control logic into a dedicated chip."

good luck with whatever you choose. AMD Mantle and Nvidia G-sync are both very good technologies. in fact like carmack said such technologies should be cross licensed and should be available to everyone

so to be honest g-sync looks better, because what i see is that mantle give u boost with fps only (or maybe something else?) and g-sync make ur game more smooth.
i just wondering, is playing at 144hz without v-sync under 144fps should have no tear, lag etc be the same smooth as playing with g-sync.
ok last question, evga 780 SC w ACX cooler or Zotac AMP
