2nd computer can't do e-mail

I set up a friends network EXACTLY like mine, and for some reason, she's not able to connect to the e-mail servers of her internet provider on the 2nd computer.
Specs:
We both have Cox@home internet, and the same mail servers
Both MAIN systems are WinXP
Both secondary systems are WinME
Both share internet through 4-port routers (mine is a Linksys, hers is a Netgear)
TCP/IP is set up exactly the same
Settings in Outlook Express are the same.

What could I be overlooking????

If you really trult undoubtably believe that everything is setup exactly the same as your own network then my first guess would be a cable problem. Double check to see if the cable is perhaps a x-over cable or if any of the wires seems to be hooked up incorrectly.

If I had to guess, I would say one computer has the fully qualified domain name for the mail server in the email program, and the other only has the server name. Make sure both computers have exactly the same server name in whatever email program you are using. Then, from a command prompt, try to ping that server. If one returns a ping with a name not *EXACTLY* what you typed in, then it has a domain name identifier somewhere that the other computer doesn't have. Making sure both systems recognize themselves as being in the same domain, and making sure both email programs have exactly the same mail server entered should clear this up.
