30 rentals for $30 @ Blockbuster

I heard on the radio that Blockbuster is running a summer special where you get 30 rentals in 30 days for only 30 bucks...commercial said its good for video game or movie rentals...worth taking a look at I think, I'm going to drop by later on and find out the full scoop.

Anyone outside of the D/FW area heard of this? Not sure if its a regional thing or not...

I've heard of it, I'm in GA. I think you have to use all those rentals in the span of a month though, making it less of a good deal, but a good deal nonetheless. I may be wrong though...

You'd have to justify renting about eight movies in one month -- or two per week -- to make it fiscally sensible.

That's a lot of movie watching for workin' stiffs.

you're allowed only one tape a day!!! Which means you can't take out five tape/DVD and watch them over time. Who's got time to drive to blockbuster everyday to get one movie??? Great for kids out of school though.

i think a lot of people are gonna get lured into this one and not rent enough movies to make it worth it (i'm SURE that's their goal). though some people will definitely take full advantage of it, but thats really one hell of a lot of movie watching.

it is nationwide... and all you have to do is rent one for friday night and one for saturday night everyweek and one someother time during the month to make up for the $30 you are paying.

I'm in Michigan, and my roommate did this. We both have concluded the deal is actually a ripoff. We are literally going everyday to rent PS1 games to make it worth, good for only making "backup PS1" games. Watchout for the many clauses in it as follows:

1. Only valid at the store where you get the card
2. Reward points are not awarded for each rental
3. No coupons are allowed to be used in addition
4. One rental per day.
5. Some things may have boxes but no games, as in PS1.
*They had a bunch of games we wanted to rent, but they told us sorry we just have the box no games*

So beware.

Went to my BlockBuster last weekend, and they are advertising $30 for 30 videos. When I asked about it, its $20 if you want DVDs only. $30 is for VHS, DVD and I believe the games too. Dropped Netflix several months ago, and I have a whole list of DVD I want to watch. Hope that I can get at least 10 rentals...

Jokeram: Do you know how long it actually takes to make a &quot;copy&quot; of a DVD on a hard drive. People spend several hours (6-10) trying to make them into DivX to watch later. Unless of course you have a different idea... <Shrug>

This is a decent deal. Or if you folks have an Albertson's near by, they have a promotion going on where you can rent their DVD's for 99 cents any day for a 3 day rental. Much better deal for the working people who only have time to watch on Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

If you have a DVD-ROM drive and a Hollywood Plus decoder card (or Creative's too I think), you can make a VHS &quot;archive&quot; tape and then watch the movie at your leisure. Simply download a shareware program called Remote Selector which enables you to deactivate the Macrovision signal coming out of the decoder card.

I did the 30 DVDs in 30 days for $20 and managed to miss only one day. Had movies to watch for the next month or two.

Actually the $25 a month plan is the one with 4 dvd's. The $20 a month plan gives THREE dvd's, and the $14 a month one gives TWO dvd's .
