32" Flat Screen TV's revisited!

Ok, I am a month away from purchasing one. Need some input from all 32" flat screen owners. I have Dishnetwork SAT and a non progressive scan DVD. NON HDTV, Dont care about PIP or sound as I already have a the HT sound taken care of. Since they all (wega kv32fs13, Toshiba 32af41, Panasonic, Phillips, Samsung,etc) seem to be in the $899 price range ( I will be beeting a salesman down wherever I decide to buy). Which do you recommend as far as reliability and picture quality. 16:9 dvd conversion would be nice (wega has it, altho not big on the WEGA, but if price were right). 480i to 480p conversion would be nice too, but think it is out of my range. Open to all opinions, thank you.

Well, you buy any of the namebrands you named off, you'll be buying Hitachi anyway. I know Hitachi still makes "normal" direct view non HDTV/HDTV monitors. Check out their website.

Circuit City had them on sale once for, I think, $1199. Sears carries them and you might be able to find a willing store mgr to price match to a decent website.

I've said before, and I'll say it again...

I LIKE my 32" Sony WEGA! The picture is so clear, it's like looking through a window. I paid $850 for mine six months ago, but it's probably cheaper now.

Oh, yeah. One more thing. Make sure to get the matching stand, but pass on the "monster cables". Those things are a waste of money.

Toshiba makes excellent TV's with great picture and above average reliability.

Good move on not getting PIP, I purposely paid $100 more just to get a 2 tuner PIP I've used it ZERO times.

Sony WEGA. On the DISH it is awesome. Just get the cheap one with conponent inputs. I was watching boxing and it was like they were in the room.

I watched a 36" WEGA running Dish network and it was like I had aged 20 years! Went right back to my 27" 600p display. You guys don't even know what you're missing if you think your overpriced WEGA's are great

I am very happy with my 27" flat screen Panasonic. Pictue quality with a DVD source and S-video cabling is amazing.

I also have an aversion to the uber trendy silver TVs that seem to be popular. The Panasonic is much better looking. If you have to worry about WAF and have a lot of wood furniture, think about it...
