I bought the Philips also for a friend for $235 but it was not a display model. Displays = the suck from walmart as they are on 24/7 for around a year minimum.Originally posted by: MorphineChild
Yeah wal-mart is having killer deals on TV's all over. Seeing the prices there made me buy a tv on the spot!
Got a 27" Philips flat screen for $200!!! It was an open box display model but still carries an instore 90 day return policy, plus the original manufacturers warranty. They also had a 27" Sanyo flat screen for $200.
Now my only question is, did I make the right purchase? Is it still alright to be purchasing analog tv's? I really wanted 16:9 HDTV, but for the price I had to get it before someone else.

Food for thought.
I think I'm going to hold on to my analog 27 and buy a nice big digital in 2005 or even 2006.
I wish I had a TAU though. hehe

No analog tvs will still work after the change to an digital broadcast in 2006. The broadcasts will be backwards compatible.

I have had a 24" Tau for a little over a year. It cost $500 then so I guess $600 for a 32" is pretty good except that the next TV I buy will be at least a widescreen HDTV monitor.
If better is comprable, then they are. The only VVegas that are really good are their high-end models which also are of course are HDTVs. Their analog models are not really that great and then their cheap line is just average.aren't taus comparable to wegas?

If you want to watch TV, buy HDTV...oooh, but there's no digital tuner since most are HDTV R E A D Y...luckily, you can spend 5-20 grand and get something in the lines of plasma or LCD, or XBR wega. But then again, you really are not gaining much since there is nothing on TV nowadays anyways. I aint blowing that amount of loot so I can watch horrible tv like will and grace (my money says grace is the guy). But for every cause there is an effect. if people cant afford to get a tv, the will get movies. and once dvd burners hit the mainstream with faster speeds, a bootlegging there will be. The cheapest solution that i can think of is getting a PCTV HDTV tuner card, since they are only in the $200 range now. Thats my 2pesos!
