i don't see p-cav as doing too well.. who else besides yamaha has it anyway? you always hear zone. doesn't cdrlabs mention that p-cav is actually pretty difficult to achieve, hence avoided (don't quote me on this ). But for $85, the lite-on is hard to pass up... at $102.. i just upgraded to 24x from 8x... definately worth it.

as for waiting for 32x.. nah, don't bother.

<<Certainly, I also agree that these features are beneficial nonetheless. I just don't see it as worth the added cost, but that is my opinion.>>

If you put all those advantages together, it becomes a nice worthwhile package. Looking a each feature individually degrades the attractiveness of the whole package. I just think if you add up all these nice features, the price is worth it, and any buyer will benefit one way or the other from them. And yea, that's just my opinion.

<<i don't see p-cav as doing too well.. who else besides yamaha has it anyway?>>

That is explained the article, because P-CAV is preceived as "slower than Z-CLV", it hasnt been widespread. The other thing is, Yamaha invented it so it probably would cost quite a bit to licence if other manufacturers want to implement it.

Well, it'd be nice if you can back up your claim, why post information you're not even sure about yourself?

<< Yamaha's CRW3200 series also brings back their SafeBurn recording protection system. This system not only includes buffer underrun protection, but also ensures that the data written to the CD is of the utmost quality. >>

YES, that 1 will be of much higher quality then the 1 burned on the other drive, and don't even get started talking about 0's

also wanted to note: anti-coaster schems like burnproof arent really all that important anymore, are they???? i have a duron 750 and i've never seen the buffer go under 90 percent and only under 95 once or twice, it's usually 97-99%...and i'm multitasking and everything.

Here's some more info about Yamaha's Audio Master feature:
Link
Most interesting is this:

<P align=justify>We noted another fairly strange quirk during our tests. If you make a copy of an original CD Audio in Audio Master Quality and then compare the two on the same equipment, you notice a definite difference. High and low notes seem more marked and the stereo distribution more emphatic. Yamaha says this is due to the fact that the Audio Master recovers the quality lost between the recording and mastering of the original! Given that the data are stored digitally on a CD, it would be nice if Yamaha explained how this miracle happens, jitter or no jitter.

Does the hardware buffer matter if I use 80 megs of my ram for the buffer? (an option under nero) Keep it coming, the more the better

LXi, i was hoping someone else might have info But here is where i got that from.. it's from mitsumi's mouth.. so i have no idea how credible that is. i was un-aware yamaha created it.... never occured to me for some reason... but it makes perfect sense but it's probably a more valid reason.
