3400+ on socket 939

i found someone selling these on ebay, the only diff is the HT speed of 800 on the 3400+ and 1Ghz on the 3500+. anyone got one or no anyone who has one of these chips and can they run be set to 1ghz on the motherboard? i run my 3200+ hammer at 1ghz on this system. any thaughts?

The HT speed difference between 800 and 1000 mhz is pretty much non-existent.

The Socket 754 chips have a single channel memory controller where the S939's have dual channel. That would become a problem if someone tried to make a pin converter.

Newegg had an OEM socket 939 3400 listed for a while, so it can't be a chip someone tried to convert to s939. I actually saved the site cause I didn't believe it.

What was the advertised chip speed? 2.2 ghz? 2.4 ghz?

I know im not trying to say that the chips is socket 754. when i mentioned socket 754 i was refering to my current set up.

2.2 Ghz but with ht of 800Mhz not 1Ghz. but as i ahve said, i run my chammer at 1Ghz HT no worries, and 754 is never ment to be 1Ghz, so im just trying to work out what stops me knocking it up to 1Ghz on me new mobo and having a 3500+ for the price of a 3400+

i think it should considering that the newer bioses for the dfi ut 250 nf3 has a LDT option of 5x as well as the epox 8kda3 series boards... ... implying that if skt 754 chips can, then this 939 chip should be able to as well.... but what do i know?

What core is the chip?

The one newegg listed was newcastle, which are designed to run with HTT of 1000, so I see nothing stopping you.

i actually have one of these. its a newcastle 2.2ghz 1600htt proc that will only run in certian motherboards that support it. afaik motherboards that support it are the asus a8v and a8n series, the abit av8 series, and the msi neo2-f series.

They had it on newegg as a combo deal with a motherboard for that exact reason.
