Hey, i just built my new system with the following specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (230 x 10.5=2415Mhz)
Zalman CNPS7000A-CU
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
128MB eVGA Nvidia 6800(overclocked to 416Mhz core/815Mhz memory)
1 GIG Crucial Ballistix PC4000(running at DDR460 2.5-2-2-6)
1 74GB WD Raptor SATA 10,000RPM
Antec NeoPower 480
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Case

My temps are 44C idle and 58C load under 9 hours of prime95 (with 10 priority and doing the HighTFT test) I feel these are a bit high, especially my idle. Im using a very good heatsink/cpu cooler and i have 3 fans(2 120mm and 1 92mm) in my case. Also a thing to be noted is that my power supply has this feature that controls the case fans automatically. But i dont think even with that, i shud be having such high temps. anyone have any suggestions or comments?

Make sure you have the 1.2 bios for the mb, if so then maybe too much grease or the hsf is not on correctly.

I have the same cpu/mb/hsf and i'm around 33c idle

how do u take off the heatsink, its stuck to my cpu and the cpu doesnt come off unless i take the heatsink off? do i jus pull the heatsink off the cpu even with the arctic silver on there in between the two? like do i have to completely take off ALL arctic silver and reapply like when i got the new processor or can i jus take it off the cpu ceramic and reapply only that portion on top of the cpu? someone told me i have to take all off the cpu and heatsink but i dont see why i need to clean off even from the cpu core? since im gonna reapply it anyways. it wud make sense just to clean off the cpu ceramic(top of the cpu) and the heatsink so i get the excess out. doing the cpu core is such a pain in the ass cause i have to get iso propyl alcohol like mentioned on the arctic silver website. the instructions are very vague, it says to use dish detergent to clean the cpu ceramic, does that mean i can wet the processor cause im guessing if u put dish detergent, ud have to clean it with water...can someone clear up how to exactly remove arctic silver and whether or not u use water with the dish detergent. thanx in advance

Twist the heatsink a little sideways. It might break free. If it's stuck that well, then I would leave it alone. Chances are your temp readings are faulty due to the program, not your heatsink/thermal paste.
