37K for a webmaster job?

I'm a recent graduate and have been offered 37K for a webmaster job. The primary responsibilities involve a variety of tasks including some development, QA, documentation, finding and reporting bugs to the proper people. I have at least 2 solid years of website development experience with server-side scripts and databases and all that. Is 37K base salary fair? I don't expect the 65K that recent graduates were offered 3 years ago but 37K? I need some advice...

I believe they are giving me 37K mostly because I am a recent graduate and also because the economy ain't doing so good.

Do you have a job? 37k is a lot better than 0k. You can always look for better jobs while working.

Take it. It's an employer's market right now. At the least you can take it and continue to look for work elsewhere. It's not a slap in the face either - they are simply offering what the market can handle and believe me they will not have a problem filling that position at $37k these days.

Where do you live? If you got there here, you'd be doing great. If you got it in NYC, I'd say you aren't doing so great.

Take it and look for a better job. Remember that it's never about company loyalty and everything about youself.

A salary of $37,000 is really not bad at all in any economy, especially for a recent college grad. Remember, it's only a starting salary. If you;re good at what you do, perhaps you can move up quickly.

keep in mind there can even be job growth within the company. Some companies have opportunities opening up every couple weeks (generally bigger corporations). My sister in law started working at entemins (however you spell their god awful name) for ~38k, in about 3 years she's up to ~65, which is decent for a business major fresh out of college.

I've been paid more for webmaster jobs... and I've been paid a lot less too.

I'd take it. Wheres the job, can I apply too?

if it takes you 1 year to find a better job, at least you'll have 1 year's worth of experience as a webmaster.

My friend has a B.S. in Electrical Engineer and was offered 30k project managing job at Hawking. He didn't take it because he was insulted and later he found out some other sap took the job at 30k. Like what everyone is saying ... if you don't take it, someone else will.

Take the job, gain some experience, continue to keep your eye open for something better. It's always better to be looking for work while you are working.

Sure... it's a decent rate for a starting position...

Nothing to stop you from looking at other positions while you work there... Also depends on the size of the comany... if it's small or medium-sized... expecting like 50-60K would probably be out of the question..

when I first got out of college 4 years ago, the starting pay for engineers were 24K where I lived . Take the job while you can.
