@lavaheadache

That's exactly what I'm saying, they need better PhysX performance from their cards if they want it to take off better. As it is now everything with PhysX pretty much requires a addin or SLI.

But that doesn't mean the logic behind GK104 will only excel against the 7970 in games with PhysX since the 7970 can't do PhysX on any level makes any sense (Charlie).

PhysX adds more workload, reducing fps... Why would GK104 only excel in these those titles against the 7970 when it would have more load than the 7970 would, but not be as good in other titles where there was no PhysX?

Because they'll offload the PhysX to the CPU and bottleneck the hell out of it. It'll be implemented in a way that it can't be turned off and purposely tank the performance of AMD cards. They'll pay every dev more money to do this than AMD can afford to match. AMD fans will cry unfair business practices and nVidia fans will call it Dev relations. Intel will outsmart the two of them by releasing 8 core gaming chips that sell for as much as entire video cards and clean up. /sarc

I am going not to purchase any more GFWL games. Even though I like codemasters a lot, I refuse to put up with that GFWL crap.

Also, UBI and EA are out too. Yet, I have games installed that I need to finish. Those games should keep me busy for the rest of the semester.

I don't use any of the online / multiplayer features either. I just use a offline account and save achievements locally.

Do users have to create a LIVE account to play a Games for Windows — LIVE game?

No, you can play offline without ever connecting to Microsoft or creating a LIVE profile. Games for Windows — LIVE supports the creation and use of an offline “local” profile that exists only on the user’s computer. This account will let you play the single player portions of the game, but the user will not be able to play multiplayer, gain achievements, or take advantage of the other LIVE features. However, Microsoft strongly recommends that users who wish to play offline create an online account and then use that account to log in “offline.” This makes the end-user experience better, since it ensures that saved games, purchasing /downloading add-on content for the game, and keeping the account across Xbox LIVE, Games for Windows – LIVE, and Xbox LIVE on Windows Phone remains consistent.

Do you need to activate to play when using an offline account?

No, if you create and sign in with an offline account, the Games for Windows — LIVE service is not contacted and therefore no activation or Internet connection is required.

I guess there is a free online F1 multiplayer game comming from Codemaster's this year.

I'm not sure AMD's strategy is a win win for them. They have lost many potential customers with the absurd prices and potential for backlash from those that bought a 7950/7970 if nvidia decides to release a 7950/7970 competitor for $200-$250 less. It's not a good long term business model to overcharge customers and lose many potential customers in the process.

I'm not sure what lost customers you are referring to as they appear to be selling all of the cards they are making. It's all about supply and demand... supply and demand... supply and demand. Why are you ignoring this? It's been brought up 100's of times.

nVidia seems to have survived having to do the same thing with the 280 just fine. Why is it so bad because it'll be AMD this time? This, of course, is assuming it all goes down this way at all.

That chart would look very realistic for a 680 part at 500$, since it has the typical 15%~ lead over AMD from the past couple launches

Cant believe people really think Nvidia would release a 300$ card that matches the 7970... When has nvidia ever underpriced their products? Never

Meh, I don't think the chart is real just because of characteristics of the person that posted it (1 post, banned a chiphell), but anyway.... the real question is does it beat 470 sli?

lol

I don't think that will happen, not even overclocked (with typical cooling air/water).

Maybe the big card might, it's going to take 580 SLI performance in a single card and I don't think that will happen this gen.

Yup. The benches would be about what I expect from the real nvidia high end card. Problem is it's another rumour that is not consistent with other rumours. The card woukd be at least $550 if it was that fast, not $300 as rumoured. Also, nvidia makes good cards, but they're not wizards. For that kind of performance the die would have to bigger than Tahiti, not smaller, as rumoured.

So, total bs. So many conflicting obvious fake is obvious rumours, I am back to thinking this is just all junk and nvidia has no cards releasing for months, fermi 2.0.

OMG this is going to be so good. I mean if those numbers are indeed true and GK104 is indeed the performance part and not high end. I think a big upset is on it's way. Gut feeling.

Ever heard of G90? AKA 8800GT? http://www.anandtech.com/show/2365 "The only card that matters." When Nvidia released that card, they were basically competing with no one but themselves, yet still priced it to make their other higher priced offerings worthless.

 Compared to Fermi's pre-release info, there is definitely an overall very positive vibe with the rumor mill about Kepler, even with GK110 likely not coming for several months. Much of the fermi rumors being delayed and having trouble keeping it's power draw and heat under control turned out to be true and there were not many "positive" rumors about Fermi leading up to it's launch, other than it was faster than cypress. Right now though, GK104 rumors are almost all entirely positive - everything from potential performance, chip size, power draw, and expected price. It's fun watching hd7970-early-adopters and/or AMD-fanboys defending the hd7970's launch price and trying to discredit the performance and price point rumors attached to GK104.

ehh... I think you meant it's fun watching the early adopters currently enjoy their real cards, who's performance (and existence) has been proven, not rumored, faked, hoped for, dreamed of...?

Yeah apparently you can't be happy with your new card unless they say so. This coming from someone who owned a GTX465.

If they release a card that performs like for $300, sign me up for two.

Not holding my breath, but it would be a huge shakeup in the industry.
