Yes, and how did that end up? A $150 price drop 2 weeks after release, $125 and $60 rebates handed out to GTX 280/260 owners. This time 7970 buyers will end up with a $150 hole in their pocket.

I'm thinking "the plan" from AMD is, ~$50.00 price drop for 7970/50 to $499 and $399, respectively and release the 7950 1.5GB @ $349 in response to GK104. Now, GK104 could throw a monkey wrench into everything by being either faster or cheaper than AMD (by my guesstimate) thinks it will be. You have to hedge your bets someway though, and this scenario sounds reasonable. I wouldn't think AMD would purposely price the cards higher more than ~$50.00 for a "first to market" premium.

If anything, NV has the best opportunity to have the lower consumer prices. They have a much stronger server/professional market and could off-set a decent percentage of R&D through their enterprise and professional divisions. Thats very simplistic, obviously, after you factor-in all the other facets and margins the company has to account for.

The price premium in the pro market is to cover support. It doesn't offset the R&D cost of consumer products. That's not true in every field, but the cost of pro cards isn't enough to offset any more than the addition support for drivers, bug fixes, trouble shooting, etc...

Do you expect any new features from Kepler? Be it Video/Audio, Connectivity, image quality, GPGPU...

If so, what would you want to see?

Hmm... We need some fresh rumors.

Agreed. Although concrete info would be better. Considering how the AMD HD 7770 turned out, it'd be nice to see if Kepler can swing anticipation fulfillment to the positive side of things.

Disclaimers:
Yes, the 7750 is amazing in its own right, though slightly overpriced.
There are benefits to the 7770, but the initial pricing for it is unreasonably high.
These are all my opinions, not "facts".

A potential bar code number on a GeForce brand. However it was nice of him to take the time for this:

I like that JHH started the company, is still there, and has a vested personal interest in making sure it succeeds (sort of like Steve Jobs and Apple?). I figure a lot of CEOs these days are trying to make big bucks for the company but don't care personally if/when the company starts going downhill (and they get big payoffs when they leave).

Well, yes, of course. We could get something from the PDX LAN event this Friday, though I don't expect NV to reveal the specs yet. I'd love to be surprised though

I have a feeling that Friday is just going to be a canned physx demonstration of borderlands 2. Although I initially hoped something more substantial would surface, this is what rumors are indicating.

Thats not a bad thing, mind you, because i'm a huge borderlands fan and i'm eager to see borderlands 2. But I wouldn't hold my breath for kepler benchmarks or anything Friday, I do hope i'm wrong.

Although I am personally not interested in multi-monitor setups, it would be embarrassing for Nvidia to not have caught up to this concept with Kepler.

I had a choice between adding a couple more monitors to make 3x24" and potentially limit myself to AMD, or buy a single larger 27" monitor with 2560x1440 and leave my options open.
Ultimately, a deal on a 27", the greater future upgrade potential (due to no vendor lock by default) and the fact that three monitors won't fit on my current desk all helped sway my decision, but it would be unfortunate if Kepler doesn't support 3 monitors.

Also, since the 7000 series supports FOUR monitors out of the box (using Displayport), if NV can't manage at least 3 something is seriously amiss.

I'm not ruling out a high end card entirely. The chances are slim though. I didn't know I had to buy one though to have an opinion on them. I don't buy $1000 intel cpu's although I'm sure I've commented on them. Thanks for your concern.

Of course not, everyone is entitled to their opinion, stating a simple: "not in my price bracket, meh" is harmless.

Instead, you go thread to thread crapping on the price, the product, those that buy it, those that defend it, accuse anyone with a positive opinion of being a marketer, then come here and tell us essentially "this product is out of my allowance, and thus worthless."

And of course, now I'm an AMD marketer because I disagree with you.

QFT, every 7 series thread.

In the 7850/7870 speculation thread also:
"After seeing 79XX and 77XX series pricing I just said a prayer over my GTX 480 in hopes that it lasts for another year or two and I can avoid this madness. "

Wonder if NVIDIA will be including a 550ti replacement in it's Kepler launch.

The 7750 does look like a great HTPC card and that probably justifies it's launch pricing. Still bummed out that the 7770 isn't a similar die size to the 5770, missing out on 100+ SPs.
