I think it was an Emprex digital camera.
Probably would make a good stocking stuffer. It's better than your average cheapo digital camera since it has:

3MP Resolution
1.5" Color (?) LCD Screen
Docking Bay

It should be buried somewhere in the camera section at Fry's.

it's a piece of junk at any price. Only slightly better than your average cell phone camera but not as convenient.

How is that? What are the spec differences? between this and a cell cam?

The cell cam has this convenient phone attached, for one.

Actually my brother bought this camera when it was $37, it's actually not bad at all. The megapixels are as advertised a full 3.1megs, and the LCD on the back while small, is quite clear. You're not going to get any kind of zoom with this thing, but considering it actually has a few ISO speed options, a real flash, a rechargeable li-ion battery, and it's really small and light it's a great deal for under $40.

Cell cam has a cmos sensor and less then 1 mp in most cases so pics bigger then the screen of the camer look like crap.

The cell phone has no flash so low light situations will turn out looking like crap.

You will most likely have to send the crappy pic you took through email and pay for sending it.

The cell phone most likly cost you over $100 to have the crappy pic feature so you can pay to email someone a crappy picture you took.

Again its a phone with a toy camera attached to it so you will buy it but still takes so so pictures

A real camera on the other hand since it is confermed to have a real 3mp sensor and its not hardware pixolated will have a much better picture res.

Should have a 3x optical zoom with the crappy digital stuff and if not it still will look better on a bigger screen.

With a real camera the pics you take can be put on photo paper and not look like crap because of the low res and streched out.

You can actually take the mem card or put a bigger on in it.

You wont have to email the picture to you, save as, then be able to host it.

Granted the camera may not be a good to cary around as your phone but the pics I have seen taken with a camera phone I would much rather you never bothered to send me anymore. I like quality shots and I have yet to see a decent one come from any camera phone yet that on my screen didnt look to dark because of lack of flash or had squares and out of focus because the low res when streched out to fit my monitor.

And I wish I had a frys because this would of been a very good choice fo a first camera for my son. Cheap, decent pics (supposedly), and if he droped it I wont have to kill him as much like I would if he droped my Panasonic FZ5

I can go on why ANY regular camera is better then some phone camera.

good for sticking in your glove box to take pictures of accidents or random crap. film may be cheaper but with the summer heat film goes bad really fast AND you can make sure you got the shot before clearing the accident.

Thanks funboy42.

You're right. It has to be better quality than a cell phone camera. Plus, the kids can use it when they want without taking my phone!

Damn straight I am
90% of the people here dont think out of the box. They seem to figure that if they feel it is wrong for them then the whole world has to think the same way because they dont see the need and of course the whole world revolves around them and thier beliefs and feelings.

I happen to think outside the box and about other persons needs other then mine. IMO there is never a bad hot deal. Just because it doesnt work for you doesnt mean someone else cant find a reason why they cannot live without it. Sure the camera is crappy, cheap, pics probably no better then a vivatar but hell for $40 it sure beats the crappy pics your $300 phone takes and if you drop your phone trying to take that crappy picture your sol and have to cough up another $300. You drop this thing you shrug it off. Step on it some more showing the other people how rich you are by destroying your digital camera and your a manly man who has them growing on trees.

Drop your phone and your crying not only because it cost you and arm in a leg but all the crappy pics you took you cant get back and all your contacts are gone especially of the hot chick you took a crappy pic at the bar that you didnt write her number down and wont ever see again who thinks your better then her because you never called her back

/\ see out side the box

also good for taking to clubs/mardi gras/beaches or anywhere else you might not want to take your normal camera for fear of it getting lost/stolen/damaged

This sounds like a great deal to me for a cheapo, nearly-disposable camera! Practically perfect! 3.1MP should get you 1280x1024 or larger pics (I *think* 3.2MP is 16x12 though my memory often fails me) which is TONS better than all but the very best (aka significant $$'s) cell phone cams.

I got this when it was on sale for $29.99 at Fry's a few months ago. I would relegate this thing to "I wouldn't take my good camera there" use or for someone who's just starting out with digital.

Pros:
1. Nice, slim design - most cameras in this price range are big and bulky.
2. Built-in Li-Ion polymer rechargeable battery - pretty snazzy for any <$100 camera.
3. Docking station included - usually an added-cost option.

Cons:
1. Image quality is crap - no surprise there. Although if you're used to one-time use film cameras and cell phone cameras, this would probably be a big improvement.
2. LCD screen isn't good. It's comparable to the screen on my 5-year old 1MP HP camera, and would be no match for any current name-brand camera. But at this price, I guess just having a semi-decent LCD screen is a bonus.
3. Charging must be done through USB - so you have to have your PC on to charge this thing.

Here is the camera in question I am assuming.
I didnt realize really how small it is. That camera is perfect to fit in your pocket. Has the not so great cmos sensor but since it does a much higer res if you use this in place of your phone camera the res would be big enough on a bigger monitor that people will be able to make out what it was you were taking a picture of.
But all in all it is a $40 camera so no need to expect a $200 image from this thing. If you do move along little doggie

Shame it's not available online, exept on ebay. What a great inexpensive last-minute gift idea, albeit a little late.

Find some-one near a Fry's and ask them to get it for you.

To late though for a gift (cost wise).
