I was just wondering whether or not a 400 Watt power supply is sufficient for a P4 2.8C system with 3 hard drives (one being 10000rpm), 2 CDROMS and 7 fans... been having some trouble with my computer and was wondering if that could be the problem.
Is it an off-brand or something like Antec or Enermax? Need more info, the numbers for the rails would be especially helpful. The rig in my sig runs just fine off of the 400w power supply that came with my off-brand $35 case, and it has a grand total of 6 fans (2 exhaust, 1 intake, CPU, video card, northbridge.)
I don't know the numbers for the rails etc... it's a Macron PSU though.. I don't know I just reinstalled XP and already internet explorer starts crashing if I use it for a while. Outlook express started doing the same thing but if I reboot, everything works better for a while. I just unplugged my fans and am going to try that for a bit to see if it clears anything up.

Fans dont require that much power, I'd unplug a harddrive or two to see if its a power problem. Better yet, underclock your 2.8C to something low. Either way, if you unplug stuff and things start working, you know its a PSU problem.
I can't run my cpu overclocked above 2.0 with my 3 7200rpm hard drives on an antec true330. I know this isn't the most powerful psu out there, but I'd imagine it's not too much less powerful than a macron (who?) 400w psu. I would get a better psu, when I got on things cleared right up.
