I made a few minor mods to it. I took off the foamy foot material because I want to be able to slide it on tile floors for cleaning. I got some 1"wide x about 4" long glide strips at Lowes for about $4 and put all 6 pieces on the stand, works exactly like I wanted. I also used the corner braces that were on the glass and made little strips that I put under the glass in the clamping devices. It gave me the geebies seeing the set screws going into the glass to hold it in place. With the plastic under the glass it is still held firmly in place.
I looked at that stand at BestBuy and was not impressed by the quality. Online the description states the top shelf is rated for 300 lbs, but after taking to a salesperson that is wrong. That is the rating of the 3 shelves combined.
Here's a pic of my new 50" LG plasma on a Techcraft HBL52 stand I purchased from Provantage. Price of stand with shipping was $115. total, no tax.
Link. The stand is well made, strong, and easy to assemble. Each shelf has a middle bar support. The space between the middle shelf and front support is only 6 1/4" but since the 3 top shelf supports are angled up you can fit components up to 9" high on the middle shelf through either side.
The Techcraft HBL44 would be a perfect fit for a 46" TV. Provantage's price for the HBL44, depending on where you live, would be ~$103. - $108. shipped.
The only downside is that Provantage used Fedex to ship the stand. I live only one state over from where it was shipped but the box looked like it had been dragged from Alaska. Luckily the stand was packed well and there was no damage. The stand + box weighs 83 lbs.
