4x Modules... 1T even possible?

Each of my pairs of ram are capable of running at 1T individualy, but don't seem to want to run that way when both pairs are in. In fact, unless I up the CAS latency to 3, it won't post with 1T command rate. If you're running 4x modules, each of the pairs in dual channel mode... is it even supposed to run at 1T?

If that is the case, would it be better to run at CAS2 and 2T or CAS3 and 1T?

As far as I know, you generally need to drop to 2T when running 4 modules. There may be certain CPU/Motherboard/RAM combinations where you're able to run 1T with 4, but I don't think it is often the case. On my system I had to drop to 2T when I went up to 4 modules (K8N Neo2, 3500+ Winchester, 2x512, 2x1GB).

As far as CAS2 at 2T compared to CAS3 at 1T, I don't really have the answer to that one. Maybe try some benchmarks? I'd be inclined to guess that the CAS2 would be preferred.

I remember someone came out with a mobo that did 1T at 4 modules. Anandtech did an article on it. I'll look for it.

Well we are assuming you are using an AMD chip, but you didn't specify, but with an A64/X2/Opteron, you have to run at 2T with 4 sticks of ram. It's really not that big of a hit though, usualy 3-5%.

The DFI RDX200 is capable of doing 1T with four DIMMS
