For the small difference it makes, I've been running my 2nd rig some of the time, thing is it's warming up now & getting rather too warm in my room! Currently 26C in here but I've just fired up my 2nd rig again. It's probably going to be too warm though to run it 24/7 even just for the race .

Well it seems we've left ICAR behind , & it looks like we're now out crunching 2ch (as from the 17th) but not enough to close that 700k gap in time.

Well, I was going to post here that I wouldn't be returning much more work, as my main computer crashed last night and wouldn't boot today. I even went shopping for a backup laptop, but all the keyboards were terrible.

As I started writing the post (on my tablet), I thought how it seemed like this case was cursed. That led me to think about how the only electronics I haven't replaced in the case is the power switch and LEDs. Then I thought about how it was booting and shutting down constantly, almost like the power switch was being pressed. Then I remembered I'd had this problem before. It somehow went away, but before it did I'd ordered a replacement power switch. I dug it out, plugged it in, and...my main computer's working again!

I still won't get much more work in, but I'll get a little more in and I should be able to join the PrimeGrid race. And I'm still thinking about getting a backup laptop. :twisted:

As I suspected - the bunkers are starting to get dumped and WUs are available in POEM.

I got 14 WUs. Try to get some if you can.

It was possible for the team below us to pass us with only five computers running for three hours!

The race is over, we tied for 16 & 17 places.

Not too bad considering all the big teams in the race.

And considering that we started almost a week late. If we do this next year we know to start early and "bunker" finished WUs.

Well I don't know about everyone else but I think I may of started skynet only about 1/2 a day late at most.

Re POEM, wow that was close then!
Doesn't seem to be close now, AUS on 79k, TA 34.5k, SETI@Deutsch 18k. Did someone pass us?

We closed the gap slightly in pogs, down to ~659.3k .

SETI@Deutsch was only 13,543 behind us when the WUs became available!
OK, so it would have taken six computers to overtake us! Still, it was possible
And if I, an average chess player, thought of it, others could have also. And if the team below us was "capable of coordinated efforts" we would have lost our place.

We started a week late??

I for one did not understand the importance of getting the "earliest" start.
The experienced teams started crunching pogs on April 29 and made a nice "bunker". Four of the teams that finished below us dumped MUCH larger bunkers on May 5!
Some probably guessed pogs and started crunching on April 27 which is a good valid tactic.
I am not picking on anyone here, just saying "the TeAm is capable of coordinated efforts if motivated enough." (quote of Petrus)
