-5 volt rail is really high

Im looking at my girlfriends computer and the -5 volt rail seems to be really high, like -7.61. Why is this? All her other rail seem to be well within normal ranges. Im getting these numbers from Soft Sandra btw.

Nothing uses the negative voltages any more so they have no load. Switching regulators don't work properly without a load. If you want to settle it down, solder a 100 Ohm, 1 Watt resistor between the -5 and a ground wire.

My -5v rail shows silly numbers, never caused a prob. If hers has no probs, ignore it unless you just wanna rma for the heck of it.

Wow I would never have guessed that.

And, BTW, many newer PSU designs are shipping without any negative outputs. It's in the new ATX spec. The Delta I got recently lacks both I think.
