OMG! Wait before you purchase that one because we have NEW RUMOURS!!!OMGWTFBBQGRASSSPIDERETC

Dude, there are always bigger and better things on the horizon, and if you're going to wait, you might as well wait for all eternity until things stop being developed.
Come the hell on, waiting is for people who don't really want to spend that money and wait until the best thing is here, but the best thing is always going to be improved upon by rumoured new cards, that's the whole way the market works.
Card A released, people say wait for card B from the ocmpetitor, card B released, people say wait for refresh C of card A, refresh C released, people say wait for refresh of B (card D), card D released, people say wait for the new card (card A2) etc etc, ad infinitum.

Like I said, I find out about these things on the heels of release.

IF the ATI part makes it to market first (which I doubt) I encourage anyone who doesn't believe me to spend their money on it.

Like I said, I don't get info way in advance like AT. If I tell you something is coming, it's almost here and bears no resemblance to an ATI paper launch.

Based on the reviews of the X1800XT vs 7800GTX 430/1200, and the R580 specs, I don't think Nvidia will win ANY benchmarks anymore. But im under NDA so cannot say anything further

Not quite as simple as that BFG. Without wanting to get into yet another argument with you, I will say there were/are plenty of reasons to slam ATI this year and not because of the final product performance, which I assume will be very decent. Can we leave it at that and keep the thread civil please?

Thanks.

I detect sarcasm? Anyway, why compare G70 to R580? Is the R580 due out soon? I really have no idea when that's supposed to come around. I'm sure the R580 will waste a G70. Really don't even have to think about that one.

At least we know that if Rollo has this info, the card launch is iminent.

It's all good. I don't have long to wait to be proven right.

Like I said, if you think I'm full of it, I hope you pay launch price for a X1800XT.

If I wasn't under NDA, do you think I'd know?

I could be wrong here.. but the difference IMO is that its extremely likely this card will be on shelves November 7th.
Thats worth waiting for, its a solid date.

Who knows when we'll see the XT? I dont suggest waiting for that either.

So I think that could possibly be the reason why it'd be smart to wait for the reliable, hard launch dates Nvidia puts out versus waiting for a floating target.

BFG, I truly hope ATI gets their card out first and you buy one. That would please me very much.

Southpaw, I'd love to agree with ya on November 7th, but that is most likely just a rumor. I haven't heard any official launch date myself. Has anyone else?

If 530mhz core and 1800mhz mem is true for $499 I sure as hell am scrapping my idea of getting SLI'ed GT's.
I might as well bust out my CC on release for that...

Sweet.

I fished the north end of Waubesa and Upper Mud Lake for bass on Tuesday and Friday afternoon last week Sentry2. Fish have slowed down some, but with a few 12% Old Stock Ales to take the chill off, beats the heck out of work on a slow day.

I think you'll be happy with the switch, and will likely be envying you!

Your saying its better than GTXs in SLI ??

i'm sorry, i thought i read in this thread something about the 7th being the day. i need to edit that out.
no one told me that was the day, i just pulled it out of the air somehow.

If Rollo thinks it might beat the X1800XT to market, it must be coming soon though.

Well, it's kinda sketchy when exactly the X1800XT will launch also. I've heard anywhere from the 5th of November to the 20th of November. Your guess is as good as mine.

That's so unlikely I dont even expect it to happen. I'd expect the 512 gtx to retail for around $550 (same as the xt) just because of the added mem, with the same clock speeds as the regular gtx. Or I would expect a 256mb gtx with the increased clocks to retail for that much. But not both, that's just wishful thinking.

I have no way of knowing that, I've only seen specs/prices?

I wonder if you could SLI with a standard GTX (well mine is watercooled at 520core and 1414mem) with a new 512GTX if it has 530memory and 800-900memory? Rollo? Do you know?

I do not know, I've never considered running unmatched cards so the advances they're making in that area haven't been at the top of my reading list. (unfortunately)

IIRC they're at the point now where you can use any two card of the same model because the bios signature doesn't have to match anymore, and I thought they were working on this?

I can try asking.

No, he's not saying that. Doesn't matter anyway cause I plan on getting 2 of the new cards as well if my KO's sell. I just really want a 512mb card seeing as how 2x256mb cards in SLI = 256mb effectively and not 512mb. D3, Q4,(ultra quality) and Call of Duty 2 will make use of the extra MB's as will many future games I assume.

Does Nvidia claim that you can mix a 512mb card with a 256mb one with their newest drivers?
