Like the 32 pipe R520...... Those numbers make me drool though, The G70 already runs at 550 in the Quadro so the big thing is whether the memory speed is accurate.
Yeah but those chips are the result of extreme cherry-picking. Which isn't too difficult because the number of Quadros sold is relatively miniscule.
Nvidia/TSMC has had well over 6 months to refine the process in which G70's are made. I would think they are quite capable of creating better and higher yields by now. So, there are a lot of cherries on this particular tree in the cherry grove.
You can't say that I don't know this for a fact any more than you can say they are cherry picked. You don't know, I don't know. But mine makes a little more sense.
By your logic, we should have 5GHz P4s by now, since Intel has had years to refine their manufacturing processes. :disgust: It doesn't always work that way.
Look: nobody outside of NVIDIA and TSMC really knows what their yields are like. NVIDIA may be able to produce a fair number of 7800GTX cores that will do 550Mhz without a problem on air cooling. They might not. They might just be putting out these numbers to blunt the news of the X1800XT launch, and then in a month a handful of 550/1800 cards show up priced at $800. I have no idea. Rollo's supposed under-NDA info notwithstanding, until the cards are in someone's hands outside of NVIDIA, it's all speculation.
Clearly, they are capable of producing at least *some* 550Mhz G70 cores (since that's what they're selling in the Quadro 4500, albeit at ~$2K). That's about all you can say right now.
