For Rollos sake, I hope this doesnt turn out like when Ronin said the GTX's scored "a lot higher than 7800" in 3dmark. That turned out to not be true. Perhaps Rollos is right, who knows. Hopefully the 7th details and cards will be avail.

Like many others here with common sense, I dont believe anything thats on the internet, without being able to back it up. Especially from someone who has a serious bias. Matthias99 hit the nail on the head.

It doesn't matter if you believe me or not, there a firm hard launch date and it's soon so we'll all see then. I don't have any reason to lie about this, not like a get a free card for every 100 posts.

Ive been with Ati cards since the 9700Pro glory days but thats over now. And guess what, competition is good for you and I! For my dollars, which are hard earned, I want the best not a brand. It means we get better cards at better prices. If your an Ati fanboi and you cant cope with your darling loosing out in the marketplace, time to stuff that gob with a lollypop and try for some maturity...........

On a more serious note (and no I have not aligned with Nvidia, Rollo), I am building an SLI rig right now. I just ordered the motherboard, the Asus A8N32 SLI Deluexe. For the video cards, I was going to 2 x EVGA 7800GTs, but if The Inquirer and Rollo are right, I'd kick myself ordering now. I'm going to wait until the 512MB 7800GTXs are launched and then pick one of them up now, and a second later on.

Please note I am not saying Nvidia is better than ATI or anything like that, I continue to remain neutral and go for the best performing card at the time.

It seems to me that this is exactly the situation Rollo was trying to prevent with his post. I've been considering a video card upgrade myself and I'm glad I didn't jump on something before I see what these new cards are going to offer. I think Rollo takes a lot of unwarranted heat around here.

Well, at the very least, those who were contemplating purchasing the XT when it is available now have the option to see what Nvidia's 512 7800GTX will offer. If it is too expensive and the performance is only a marginal increase, then those folks can decide whether or not it's worth it to purchase it over the XT. Basically, choices are a good thing albeit frustrating to make the right one. But at least another choice is hitting the table.

Rollo: You did a good thing here. You have at least gave everyone a warning about whats going on before anyone else did, even review sites. When anyone flames you for this, it just means they are upset about the potential of this being accurate. Sad. Just ignore them. The majority here appreciates that and that is obvious. Only a select few really need to get it together and appreciate what you did instead of flaming you.

1. I'd note that as a gamer in the Midwest, I'm not really in a position to "paper launch" anything.

2. You should always buy the what's best at the time, unless you know it's being made by slave labor or some mitigating factor like that.
