5700 Ultra review

OK...I have a chance to buy both cards for the same price. Best Buy has the Fx 5700 Ultra for $219.00 before a $20 rebate and the 5900 (non-ultra) for $249.00 before a $50.00 rebate, bringing them both to $199.00.

I'm not enough of a video guru to know which one to get. Logic tells me that the higher the number the better the card, figuring that it migh be in a higher class ( high end vs. mid-range). The 5700 is such a new card, I can't find anything comparing it to it's 5900 brother. Can anyone help me here?

And please, let's not make this into an ATI vs. Nvidia war. I have had Nvidia for years and I want another Nvidia card. I'm just not sure which one of these cards is better.

I mentioned this in another thread, but thought maybe someone here could help me out.

I think the 5900's will also go up in price a bit. The 9800's did. If I didn't own a 3d card right now, I'd either try to find a 9800 for <$250 (which is supposedly very hard now) or get a 5900nu.

However, I have heard the Leadtek 5900nu's use 2.8ns memory, which is crap for a 5900nu. MUCH better to go with a PNY, etc.

What is Vivo? Ivo only heard of something with that name used with autocad.

I think your thinking of volo view, that is unrelated. Vivo stands for Video In Video Out, basicaly the capibility for the video card to input an output signals through S-video.

I believe BFG is a by product of the now defunct Visiontek. Someone gobbled up Visiontek's assets, moved their employees over to the newly formed BFG and started pumping out cards.

If they are going on the styles of Visionteks' cards, the cards should be great. i remember the Visiontek cards getting great reviews. Don't know why they went under. Probably jusr another victim of the tech bubble burst a few years back!

Again, forget the 5700U. You can get a 5900 for $220-230-ish at NewEgg, and it's a far better card with probably the same, average software bundle.
