I'm looking for some advice and some tweaks for a budget home desktop. The PC will be used for basic stuff, nothing strenuous, stuff like, mail, the web and Microsoft office. The budget is about $600 + monitor, it's mostly a bang for a buck PC. It's for my mum, she's not that fussy but she wants it to last for a couple of years.

I'll be buying parts from Australia. I'll be buying from pccasegear: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index. I have no brand preference. I'll be using a 1TB WD blue HDD and running default clock speeds. The monitor will be 1080p or 1200p. Aiming to build within 6 weeks and I already have a copy of windows.

The Build:
Case - Fractal Design Core 1100 Micro ATX ($60)
PSU - Silverstone ST45SF-G 450W SFX ($120) *only gold rated 450w PSU*
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H ($115)
CPU - Intel Core i3 4170 ($165)
RAM - Corsair 2x4GB 1600MHz Value RAM DDR3 ($85)
SSD - OCZ ARC 100 Series 120GB ($80)
HDD - WD 1TB Blue (free)
Total - $622

I'm also looking for a nice new 24" IPS screen out of the three listed below, which one is the best?
Samsung S24D590P ($265) *Might be out of the budget, is it worth it?*
AOC I2379VHE ($210)
ASUS VE248H ($210)

Thanks

In 6 weeks, the new Skylake i3s should be out. Though I don't know if they'll make it to Australia immediately. Or do you mean you want to order now and get the thing built within 6 weeks?

*only gold rated 450w PSU*
Gold rating is about efficiency, not quality. Though they sometimes go together.

I'm kind of down on OCZ again ever since the Trion review. Of course, that's an ARC 100, but the Trion just shows Toshiba didn't help OCZ's quality.

PCPartPicker does Australia, but doesn't seem to have prices for PC Case Gear. But I put together a build there anyway:

ATX Case + SFX PSU means adapter. Also, no. Get a normal Bronze rated PSU for half the price. Otherwise, meh, I don't see anything wrong.
