64MB GTS Q3 benchmark....

What specs and what are you guys getting with TC off and Anisotropic Filtering on in Q3 at 1024x768x32 with all the detail at Max.

I am only getting around 72fps with my GTS at Default.

I am wondering what you guys are getting.

I have 1Ghz Athlon T-bird, 256MB of Ram and a Asus A7V...

Many different versions from the 6.18s, 6.26(these seem the fastest), 6.31s, 6.35s.

For win2k the 6.31s.

I am not worrying about the performance. I just want to know if people are getting similar benches.

88 fps with anisotrophic filtering and HQ settings
86 fps with no anisotrophic filtering and max details

what does anisotropic filtering do?
what is antialiasing?

Why did you turn off S3TC? That explains your low framerate.

I guess there would be more people with benchmarks but the buggy Nvidia drivers prevent most games from running long enough for people to get them. LOL!

Thats my default clock speed with my new KT7 mb. I do remember getting 90+ with my BX mobo. I`ve seen a few ppl with o/c'd cards pull 100+ fps in win9x. I remember getting over 70 fps @ 1280x1024 SHQ with my mem @ 400mhz.

my guess is IBMer hates the pisspoor quality of TC under Q3 with the GTS, just like I did.

IBM'er, I don't have any default clock speed benches, but I assume that is about what I would get.

1024x768x32, r_ext_compress_textures 0, r_picmip 0, gl_linear_mipmap_nearest, maxed geometry
200/400, 6.18, 94 fps w/TC on, 85ish w/TC off

I can understand and accept that. I just don't get why he is confused by his low framerates. Everyone knows the effects of turning off S3TC in a texture hungry game like Quake 3.

TC is texture compression. Or more specifically in this case: S3TC.

What's your monitor refresh rate set at? Is VSYNC enabled or disabled? I'm getting around 80+ fps at 1024x768x32 with MAX settings and no TC.

I'm getting 101 fps in 1024x768x32 everything max including sound.. with a tbird 800, geforce II gts 64

Vsync is disabled so I know that isn't the problem.

All I did from a fresh install was of course install all the normal drivers (including the 4 in 1s) and then install Q3 and then the 1.17 patch.

I turned on Anisotropic filtering in the options for OpenGL. Turned up all the Quality settings up and ran the benchmark.

On my Radeon, max settings, my scores were
1024x768x32: 66 FPS trilinear
1024x768x32: 61 FPS anisotropic (max)

TC is off since my card is a 64MB card and don't need any texture compression.

I upgraded my machine this week. This is on a Thunderbird 950MHz running at 1GHz (can't seem to go any higher) with 256MB of RAM.

There were no "tweaks" in the drivers or in the game.

I did notice that even on a 64MB card, the texture detail slider has a significant impact on performance. Dropping it down one notch from the max adds 6 FPS to my trilinear score. It is kind of strange that a year ago in the previews/reviews the Savage2000 was unphased when texture detail was set to max. Possible bit of 'cheating' going on with the S2K drivers back then.

roscoe, does the radeon take that big of a hit with trilinear?

those scores just seems kinda...well....low

the GTS definitely takes a bigger hit with anisotropic enabled tho.
