64MB Radeon and Custom Resolutions

I have no idea if it's the same for a Radeon. I have a Geforce2 GTS.

If you're interested, here's a screenshot of where in the registry I made the key for a custom resolution:

Under the display branch should be a 000# branch, for me, my current video device at the time 0004 (kind of let the system redetect all my devices a few times, haven't reinstalled windows clean through 2 mobos and 1 month...anyways...)

the default value is the refresh rate. In my case, I ran the resolution at 85hz.

I didn't have to restart at all either. As soon as I made the change, the resolution appeared under the quick resolution change list (should also be under display properties settings as well)

Like I said, I have no idea since I don't have a Radeon sitting around but that's what I used for my Geforce2 GTS, maybe that'll give you something to try out.

There was another thread, people had a hell of a time trying to do this with a Voodoo3, I guess it was quite different.

Actually, modding the res for a GeForce card is different from a ATI card. I asked Leo V for help, who provided answers to the "Pet peeve of mine: 1280x1024" thread, and said his tweak only worked for nVidia cards and told me to ask other ATI users or forums. So, that's why i'm posting this.

Download and install this utility, (powerstrip 3 beta):

1. PowerStrip menu > Display profiles > Configure
2. Click the "Advanced timing options" button
3. Click the "Custom resolutions" button
4. Select "1400x1050p (CRT 4:3)" from the list
5. Click the "Add resolution" button
6. Answer "Yes" when asked if you want to change res now

You'll then have 1400x1050 in Dispay Properties
On my win2k machine, I had to set the refresh rate with powerstrip, as the only option I had with the standard Display Properties was 60Hz, but thats not a big deal!

hmmm.....slight problem. it doesn't work for me, I don't know why. I did everything that you did, trying diff refresh rates and still didn't work........
