I tested 65 fans in 112 setups on a Megahalems heatsink. The cpu was an i7 860 running at 4GHz. If you're interested, the data and the list of the fans are here.

Oh, for a second there I thought this was the fattest push/pull system ever.

Looks like you only tested them one-at-a-time. Still...interesting data, some pretty graphs and a lot of work. Thanks!

Disappointing, to be frank. With your title, anything other than 65 fans in a simultaneous push/pull would be. But good job with the review, nonetheless.

my delta fans weren't on there
they were and probably still are the most powerfull 25mm thick 120mm fans on the market, the 38's might be as well.

Delta 120x25mm
they have some 3 fin delta's and 38mm ones as well

The delta you did review got a respectable 51c
I wonder what the eh would do at nearly twice the rpm/cfm

Nice work. I didn't realize the OP was also the tester. I've already linked your graph in another thread.

Now I know why you said you would be tied up with fan testing on your Megahalems. Impressive. Are you doing the same thing on an nh-d14?

make the pictures bigger!

and i shall include this post in the informational sticky at the top.

But the pictures need to be bigger.

Id rather have the member just look and end it here, then have to go to overclock.net to get the conclusion.

OK. I uploaded the full-sized pics to Image Shack. They are now posted above.

The Sanyo Denki 9S1212L401 really stands out, especially compared to the Nexus Real Silent, which itself has earned a great reputation as one of the best quiet, efficient fans out there. Too bad the Sanyo Denki is about twice as expensive.

Great job! I was, personally, hoping for 65 fans on a single Megahlem though. =( That would be epic.

The closest thing I have is a double shroud with a San Ace on the Mega.

Incredible review with a ton of work invested, kudos.

I'm curious though how the performance measured here would translate to other heatsinks and also to case fans. I mean I have a hard time seeing 'going wrong' with any of the quality manufacturers, but is there any reason that a fan that performs well on the Megahalems may not do so well as a case fan or on other heatsinks?

I'm finding that Megahalems results carry over to the Noctua NH-D14. I suspect that any of the newer air coolers would respond similarly. Older heatsinks with tighter fin spacing might respond better to high static pressure fans. Certainly the studies on rads show that the higher static pressure fans perform better, as do shrouds (inconsistent on the Mega).

That's about all I can say.
