6600 GT AGP 8x ?

Well first off, Hi all this is my first time post but I have been going to the site for a very long time. Just never joined the forums. I tried searching for the same topic but nothing came up so here I go.

Does anyone know if there will be 6600 GT AGP 8x or 6600 AGP 8x 256mb versions from Nvidia? If so whats the date for eithers release? And what manufacturers...

I have been making some enquiries as to the availability of the 6600GT in AGP. Here is a very bad translation from a German site:

At the end of October are GeForce 6600 AGP and GeForce 6600 GT AGP after information of the diagram chip manufacturer officially to be introduced. Until the diagram map manufacturers bring these then on the market, it might last only short time, so that on an availability in the trade starting from in the middle of November is to be counted.

The distributors (in Australia) don't know when these cards are due.

I have emailed Sparkle, and they will be releasing their version at the end of November, 2004.

So - around about a month to wait. I can imagine that there will be a rush on these cards, so I wouldn't necessarily count on them being readily available straight after release.

Thanks and I will just wait patiently, I want to buy the 6600 GT AGp 8x 256mb along with another stick of corsair 512mb pc3200 XMS series, it will cost me a good sum of my pay check/allowance; heh and because of that it's always good to wait lol.

I'm still debating between a AGP 6600 GT/X700 XT (just found out there's gonna be a 256MB version...am I slow??) or shelling out more money for a higher powered card. Since I do alot of gaming, performance is a big thing, but I am a college student on a budget...so who knows where I'll end up. The choices are gonna KILL me!!

P.S. I had my GF 2 MX200 die over the summer...it was definately quick. I was sitting in bed reading and I looked up, everything was normal, looked up about 3 mins later and everything was black...

kabob, the 6600GT is likely to be the best value for money. I've heard that the AGP version will be slightly cheaper than the PCIE version (but that's unconfirmed).

Personally I couldn't wait, so I have purchased a 6800 (nu); similar performance (slightly better in most cases) but not quite as good value. It just depends if you're willing to wait or not.

Where was your post? I would have told u "its already out" if i would have seen it.

Also, i dont think 256mb versions of the agp 6600 will be comming out, only 128mb.

Our (non-gay?) friend asked about the 6_8_00GT, not the 6600. And I have no clue when it's coming--ask nV when they'll start taping out the NV45 en (critical) masse. I suspect no one replied to your thread b/c no one knows when it's coming, even though it's been reviewed. I suspect shortly after we see nForce4 MBs on the market, we'll see PCIe 6800s.

Or not. Who knows, with all the supposed supply problems the IHVs are supposedly having.

Yes it is taking its time to get here, but ive read the reviews also. Said to be the fastest video card available currently but yet it's not even out, what gives. Yah I dont think anyone knows when it's coming out, and I havent heard much talk about it either. Probably why their is a lack of response, anyways when does the nforce 4 come out then? Isnt that till next year?

nForce4 reference boards were reviewed last week in an article I read...I hate not remembering where...maybe HardOCP.com They said in there that the boards should be out in time for Christmas and they have the two PCI-E slots for nVidia SLI cards like the 6800 PCI-E and the 6600 PCI-E based cards.

The AGP version of the 6600 GT(wtih DDR3) are released already. They just have been sold out of stock everywhere. I can find them easily on Euro sites, but they don't deliver to US. I found two places that advertise them as in stock, but I am awaiting a reply on email from them before I order.

Here is two places I found selling them in US:

The only downfall is these are both dual dvi version. They are the only type I can find available. All other online retailers that I emailed stated they will be available some time around the end of November.

Assume my choice must be made today:

XFX 6600GT AGP or 9800 Pro 128 Mb AIW (yes, the real AIW pro, not white box OEM non Pro)

Same price for each when you factor in shipping etc.

Only have one TV in the house now so another screen on the PC might be nice!

Play games but not that addicted to frame rate mania yet.

What do I do?
