With all the hype that these new mid range cards are generating, which do you plan to buy? I understand that many people are waiting for the AGP version of the cards, but from what you know now, which do you want?

6600 GT, it has PS3, and a nicer feature set than the X700 series. I just think that the 6600 GT will have more longevity than the x700 series.

Probably the way I'll go, if I don't go for the more expensive option (6800 GT) but I'd love to save the $$ and go for the cheaper route with still great performance.

The X700 series (specifically) seemed to have screen anomolies fron the Hardocp test that was just done on it, and they compared it to the 6600. It seeemed not to matter what driver they used also, but this was only with doom3 AFAIK. but still, it is enough alone to keep me from recommened it. It had small dots in many areas of the maps, and the 6600 was perfect. It was not an terrible eye-sore issue but it was there, again and again. I would hold off on it until that could be explained. Supposedly ATI is working on that issue. I would go with the 6800 series myself, even though I have been ATI for a long time. I just recently got a 6800GT to replace the R9800P in my power rig and it smokes. IQ is also outstanding.

I already have a 6800GT myself, but my bro will be upgrading his Radeon 9000 Pro around Christmas. Hopefully, the AGP versions of the 6600GTs will be available. I haven't made up my mind which card would be best for him, as I haven't seen retail versions of either card yet. The 6600GTs looks like a superior card to the X700s, given its wider feature set, slightly lower cost, and better performance.

i would consider the x700xt, as soon as they sort their far cry drivers... (well obviously it needs to come out in an agp version too )

Perhaps if ATI can sort out their driver problems then they'd get a performance boost or at least sort out picture quality bugs.

I reserve my judgement in this case since im saving up for the 9800GT or X1200XTPE.

By the time I'll buy a new card, there will probably be new mid range cards out, or the high end will be a fair whack cheaper.

Not heard of those cards...just something you pulled out of the air or are they really planning on being made. Even if they are though, it'd be a while till they came out since the 6800 and X800 are still so new, they'll want to milk them for all they're worth.

I'm not really sure what I'll be getting in the next month or so, but an X800GT would be great if one ever came out...

I pulled them out of thin air. I just attempted to make them sound like a few generations on from the latest now since that'll be how long it'll take for me to upgrade.

Neither, not enough of a jump from my 9700pro. Best quiet version of the 6800ultra or x800xt for pci express is my next card. As for which is the best bang for the buck, lets wait until they are on the shelves.

6600GT if I didnt already have a 6800GT. I had considered selling the 6800GT and going w/ a 6600GT when they come out AGP, but I probably wont

The X700 XT is looking like a pretty strong card. It scored 8204 in 3Dmark3 to the 6600GT?s 8005. That is decently close to the 10,000 of the X800 pro.

The X700XT took most of the benches from the 6600GT in both the hothardware ?

and the hardwarefr review ?
