6800 GT - PCI Express

Howdy,

I guess I have a two part question.

1. Is the PCI Express version of the 6800 GT available? I see some things that would seem like it is, but no one has them even listed ... unless their listing says AGP at the top and "PCI Express Support" somewhere in the features at the bottom, which I don't understand.

2. Is there a version of this card 6800 GT / 256mb / PCI Express that has dual dvi out, or is that only for Ultra cards? Once again, there seems to be conflicting information all around.


If anyone could clear up the PCI-e / DVI / GT mystery for me I'd appreciate it.

Hey thanks, good to know I'm not crazy and there's a reason no one has them to order. Any word on when they'll be released? I'm glad the 2nd one was YES ... i've seen some reports that only ultra's will have dual dvi.

It's up to AiB's whether the GT's have dual DVI or not.
They have the capacity, mfrs may just not seem it worthwhile in the main.

PCI express won't give a noticable boost in video card proformance like advertised. However it does open the door to SLI if that is what you are wanting to go pci express for.

Yeah, i noticed it's at about the same level as AGP, however I had to get a new computer anyway so I got one with PCI-e. So, it's my only option for that. What I'm hoping to get is a GT w/ 256mb ram and dual dvi out. I get that it's up to manufacturer on if it is dual dvi, so I guess the only question left is when these cards will be available for order. For some reason, none of the reviews or anywhere I've checked the past 2-3 days can tell me.

They're out but only as eval samples straight from nVidia.

As you saw there, a definite possibility for SLI similar to the NV45s.

Just as the current crop of 6800 GTs and Ultras, for the time being nVidia will manufacture the cards.

I'm in the same situation. Just ordered a new system that's PCIe, and I'm planning on getting a Geforce 6800GT when that's available. (Assuming the bridge chip dosen't cause any problems.)

Yeah, I have no clue when they're coming out. What's the bridge chip problem thing?

The nVidia cards are not natively PCIe - they use a bridge to make them compatible with it.
