6800GS agp vs 7600GS agp

Anyone know if the 7600GS agp equals the 6800GS agp in performance? I know the 7600 only has 128 bit memory bus, but was wondering if the performance is equivalent. I'm leaning towards the 7600, just because it seems to run cooler and can come with 512 MB (not that it matters much).

The 7600GS is a lower performer. You need at least a 7600GT to match a 6800GS. If those were your only two choices, I'd get the 6800GS.

Does the 7600GT even come in AGP flavor? I didn't see any on Newegg.

Nope, it's only PCi-E. As I said, get a 6800GS. What's your budget, anyway?

I'm in the exact same boat. Trying to budget myself to $175 or less. Debating the 7600GS and 6800GS. Looking to make this card purchase last me at least a year, if not two, before needing to upgrade to PCI-E as I just recently upgraded my system to a Sempron 3000+ Palermo on an Asus K8N-E (NF3 250Gb) board and want to upgrade from a GF6200 to something a bit more brawny. Just concerned with what the road beholds in games although I've made it this far and manage to play BF2 and HL2 albeit at low settings and Call of Juarez is really hitting me hard. Interested in not only the performance bang for my bucket but like the GF7 GPU features but not sure if they're anything to really get excited over vs a GF6 GPU.

Yes, it does ... just read a review of the Leadtek version earlier tonight (sorry, no link) & it performs very close to the 7800GS at approx $100 less making it the AGP card of choice if you want all the latest visual bells & whistles... the X850XT is actually a bit faster in many benchmarks, but at somwhat lower image quality.

the 7600gs can be overclockedvery well if you replace the passive heatsink so thats someting to consider

Awesome, finally I'll get a decent upgrade path for my AGP system without having to sheel out 270-300 for a 7800GS.
