6800gt cooler

Well i would like better cooling for my pny 6800gt great card but stock heatsink just doesn't cut it i would like to drop the temps some. idle at 63 full load in the 85 range. links to cooler would be nice thx

ps. never modded a video card before so easier cooler set up the better thx for ur help

Cant go wrong with the Zalman or the NV. Make sure to put some as5 on the core.

What's wrong with the NV? MY ATI Silencer lowers my X800XL load temp by 30C!! I can only assume the NV is a good cooler as well . . .

Also I've heard the V1 isn't quite as good for high heat output GPUs . . . and you must have the fan in front . . . at least that's what I saw from insanetek . . .

I just ordered the Rev 3 for my GTX... its an awesome cooler.

Many NV Silencers have KNOWN issues with not making proper clean contact along all points of the memory and GPU. A google search will turn up the issues. They have been discussed here and on other forums as well. I am not saying that every single one has the issues, but Zalman produces better quality by far.

Yeah but those Zalman VF700Cu are pretty damn heavy . . . also it doesn't exhaust heat outside of the case which wouldn't matter that much if you have good case ventilation (or open vent like me) but still, DHES seems like a smarter way . . .

I have owned both the Zalman and the NV Silencer on my 6800GT and my 6800. Both cards were kept 3-5 degrees cooler with the Zalman. The Zalman is no heavier the the NV Silencer. Of course my case does have very good air direction and flow as you mentioned.

It just may just not seem that way because we subconsciously relate "big" to "heavy" . . . just kidding . . . it does seem that Silencer is actually heavier thant the Zalman, I guess the backplate must be heavier than the ones used by ATI Silencers . . .

I guess it's probably safer to go with the Zalman . . .
