I hope I can get 400 core; that would basically give me an Ultra equivalent card. Thanks for the DX9 program, I'll try that when I get home. Also I'll try to get some 3DMark scores, but I've been having probs downloading it from 3DGuru, hopefully it will be ready also when I get home. And thanks for the forum link too.

I'm currently running 410/1.1

Will try pushing further when I have more time

That's awesome. So your card benches the same or better than a 6800U? I can't wait until I can afford one of these cards. I'm almost looking forward to my 9700P going completely obsolete.

I've only got numbers from 3dmark03. At those speeds, the card runs a fairly consistant 12,5xx.

However, I don't want to candy coat this thing, my card runs hot even at stock speeds. Then again, my entire system runs a bit hot, so I'm not terribly worried.

I'm sure it's nowhere near as hot as an X800. Those things are real scorchers from what I've read. 80C is not uncommon.

What's hot?

Today mine ran about 60C normal, 70C in-game, but like I said it was a hot day. It is odd though that the nVidia monitor says my system is running 47C, while my motherboard says 30C, maybe it's placement or the monitor is a bit skewed...

Ran the DX9 program and the card started hitting 80C, both stock and overclocked to 1.14 so I stopped that for now. Anyone know what's the maximum heat this thing can take before you risk damaging it?

Well it looks like I'm stuck at 1.18 for now, cool bits fails the test any higher, which is unfortunate because otherwise everything was going fine. Here's some FRAPS numbers for BFV Lang Vei (no opts): 4x8x = 29-55-63, 8xS16x = 14-25-58; for AA SF Hospital (no opts): 8xS16x = 24-48-62, 20-38-62. With an additional room fan to help keep things cool I've managed to keep the temp around 71C in-game, 77C rthdrbl.

You've "heard" wrong. The X800 cards are pretty cool running. Mine idles at 38c, under full load its around 63c.

The X800XT is a very hot card, even at idle.

Someone did a comparison on a website (I no longer have the link) and the X800XT was 15-20C hotter than the 6800U. They're both scorchers, which is to be expected. Just imagine the case cooling required for 2 6800U's in SLI. :Q

There's a difference between *temperature* (as reported by a thermal diode) and *heat output* (that is, how much power the card actually dissipates).

It's entirely possible that the 6800U is putting out more heat overall, but that its monstrous 2-slot cooler is keeping the chip at a lower temperature than the 1-slot design of the X800XT. If someone tested both cards with the same aftermarket cooling (such as a VGA Silencer), you could get more directly comparable numbers.

After more testing, I got the GT up to 400/1.18. It went through rthdrbl fine for about a minute or two, then I tried 3dmark. I got a BSOD half-way through, in-between two tests. I'm still having troubles with my hot room though; I'm hoping if I can lower my room temp to ~70 I should be able to get it higher.

Edit: If anyone's got a link to a nice aftermarket cooler, I'd love that I guess I'll just have to fix the temp another way since the weather isn't working with me...

Not altogether a very impressive overclock. I don't see where people are getting the idea that GTs would be excellent overclocking chips. This isn't the first forum post of a mediocre overclock on a GT.

With the x800 Pros easily going well past XT speeds, the GT may not be that much better than an overclocked Pro.

Where have you seen an x800 Pro that could beat out an XT? Even if it's clocked higher, it has 4 less pipelines. I would be very surprised to see one beat out an XT.

I didn't mean that it could beat an XT in raw power, rather that they are acheiving XT or higher clock speeds.

I'm thinking I'll lower my memory speed a little and try again tonight. Maybe the memory just wasn't fully stable at 1.18 (well I can hope can't I?). Also here's a successful 3DMark03 score at 370/1.18: 11442.

I agree with all the others on this. After BF42, I am a lifer with DICE products! Once BFV came out, I pruchased it and haven't looked back since.

The game is awesome and the vehicular action is just unparalleled.
