6P6C and 4P4C compatibility

Can 4P4C phone plug be connected into 6P6C phone jack?
Also, can 6P6C plug be used to terminate 4 wire phone cable?

as long as the number of wires needed are there (don't assume,count) and it fits sure.

i use cat5e for 2 pair 4p4c digital phones (pbx)

My problem is that I have phone cable with 4 wires, but I received by mistake 6P6C keystone moduels instead of 6P4C, so I don't know if I can still use them?

You should be fine. Unused conductors won't hurt anything.

Any tips how I should connect the wires?

Pins 3-4 are line 1 and pins 2-5 are line 2.

Inner pair is line 1, outer pair is line 2.

Just make sure the wires on both sides match and you'll be fine.

I managed to connect everything, but still have occasional problems.

Phone cables have 4 wires that are a bit thicker than wires in CAT5 cable for example.
This means they can not fit fine in keystone modules. That's why I had to remove the isolation, because only bare wires would fit in connectors. It seems that these bare wires now occasionaly make contact with each other, which causes crackling noise and break of ADSL TV signal.
Any ideas how to terminate these phone cables to avoid problems?

You would be better off using CAT5/6 for phone than trying to use the older flat cable. The wire gauge and type is different. The 4 color wire is often stranded or a larger gauge.

"Cables to Go" also makes a cable with RJ11/12 connectors, a "high speed internet modem cable", but I am not sure if it's Cat5e--it may also be shielded, (?), which for most people will cause more problems than it solves.
