I finally got my P3-700e @ 933 @ 1.65volts (stock volatge). My current system is as follows:
-Abit BX6-rev2
-P3-700e @ 933 @ 1.65volts
-2 x 128mbs of Crucial PC 133 cas2
-3.2 GB Maxtor 5400RPM
-8.4 GB WD 5400RPM
-TNT 2 ULTRA 32MBS
-MX300
-Netgear 10/100 NIC

I heard that I'm in risk of frying my AGP card, PCI stuff, and my south bridge? Or something in that effect. I know my AGP is overclocked from 66 to like 83mhz. But so far its running fine. If one of those does go, how will I know? What "symptums" should I look for?

Also I have a Cooler Master DP5-6H51 with RadioShack thermal grease. My temps with Motherboard monitor are 35C @ Idle and around 40C with full load (Q3A for 3 hours). How are my temps?

I know thats alot of questions....

Thanks in Advance,
G99

Your temperatures seems to be fine!

I have an Athlon 750 running at 50~55 degrees C! Oh my... I'll get the Global Win FOP32-1 soon.

Well crap. I restarted my comp and it reset all my BIOS stuff. When I first put it at 933 and saved and exited out of BIOS it said "CPU is unworkable or has been changed, Press F1 to continue or DEL to enter BIOS". I hit F1 and it booted into windows and WCPUID shows its running at 933. Any suggestions? What's happening? Did I fry anything?

Sorry for double post...

your temps are excellent. Generally, anything under 50C is fine, above 50C you might experience loss of stability but since your chip is at default 1.65V your temps are lower than most see at that speed with moderate air cooling. The specs for the chip allow for much higher than you're seeing.

If you've selected the 133-1/4 timing for your FSB then the only thing that you're overclocking is the AGP bus. The PCI and IDE busses are running at the standard 33MHZ with the divide by 4.

Lots of folks are running with 83 MHZ AGP bus speed and if your card is working at all, it should continue to do so. The more likely problem with an overclocked AGP is that the card simply won't work at the faster speed - yours does.

At this point what you really need to do is enjoy the heck out of your new faster system!

Disable "Speed Error Hold" (or whatever it's called - in softbios. It will keep trying to set your system to what it "thinks" is the correct speed for your processor.

Of course, you know that the correct speed is 133 X 7, not 100 X 7 like it wants it to be. :>

The TNT2 should handle it ok. Just make sure you have 1/4 divider on that PCI stuff. If you don't that Maxtor harddrive won't like it at all. It will start spitting stuff up. If you wanted to get crazy you could had a small fan and some compound under BX chipset. The video card is the thing that you should really keep cool though. Make sure you have a fan on it. Doesn't the ultra come with one? I have an extra 486 heatsink fan on my plain TNT2 and it helps alot.

I think what drifter was trying to say is that having a TNT2 in a 933Mhz system is a waste. Upgrade to a GeForce2 and take advantage of that CPU.

Thanks again!

Well..yeah you could use a new video card, but I wouldn't recommend a GeForce 2MX - go for a GTS or Radeon DDR. After all, you have a TNT2U right now and a GeForce 2MX is barely an upgrade (I know specs look better, but memory bandwidth is actually lower 175 vs. 183 if I remember correctly). A 933Mhz doesn't really need T&L in most current games (no - 3DMark isn't a game). So if your gonna upgrade, go all the way - or just wait it out a bit longer.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. I think I will get a Geforce2 GTS 32mb DDR. ANy suggestions on which one to get? Is there much of a difference? Also a good place to get one for good price?

Thanks!

Just so you know your AGP card is running at about 89mhz, not 83mhz. 133mhz fsb with 2/3 divider.

I had a PIII 700E before I got my 933. I had it clocked at 933 with retail heat sink and fan, and never changed the voltage. The board I used was the ASUS CUV4X. On that board you can use the 933 setting from the drop down on the processor selection screen in the BIOS. Just make sure that you use PC133, and change the SYSTEM/SDRAM FSB ratio to 1/1 or AUTO. The CUV4X is in my opinion (and that's all it is of course), the best board for the 700@933 overclock. My temps on that board were about 85-90 degrees Farenheit on a full CPU load. Using the 933 preset with PC133 keeps your memory, PCI and AGP buses at their rated speeds and only overclocks the processor.

how do the geforce2's handle the 89mhz fsb?
i'm planning on getting a PIII 700 and a new video card - either my friends old geforce (1) or if i can find a good deal on a gts i'll get that.

i know the geforce has a good chance of running at 89mhz, but what about the gts's?

thanks.
