I've recently ordered parts for a new system, consisting of a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 (rev. 2.0) motherboard, 1gb OCZ S.O.E. DDR2-667, a Seasonic 430w psu, a WD 160gb SATA hd, an Intel Core 2 Duo e6300 processor and a Gigabyte Silent-Pipe II 7600gt gfx card. When I first booted up the machine, the 7600gt worked just fine. Then, after attempting to install drivers, the display stopped. The card no longer showed a display. After restarting and resetting the CMOS several times, the best that I got was a display during POST, but after the Windows logo finished loading, I would get a black screen and the monitor would go into standby. I tried my 6600gt in the system and everything was fine. I tried the 7600gt in my current system and it seemed to work. However, after I attempted to install drivers, the card no longer showed a display. It only shows one during POST and would not work anytime after the Windows logo finished loading. So how probable is it that the 7600gt is defective?
