7900 vs 1900

Thanks I don't think I'll be buying a new graphics card for some time after I build this new computer but its something to think about:!

Not to Hijack this thread, but I am in the market for ONE of these cards. (I wont go SLI or XFire until DX10/Vista.)

I currently run an AGP 6800GT and the only intensive game I play now is BF2. I do notice in the game that people or objects disappear and reappear at certain times. Im not talking about draw distance, although it does happen at somewhat of a distance. Is that the shimmering that people refer to or is that something everyone just deals with on that game?

interesting read so far.

a good friend of mine also happens to be in the market for a new card, and he has a heavy bias towards the ATI cards (1900XT in particular). The thing is, he gets the notion that ATi has the superior IQ when he hasnt even used AA/AF yet, basing his judgement on older generation cards (9800pro vs 6600gt). Do they have any noticeable IQ difference without AA/AF? He seems to think ATi has a better color tonality, and I try to tell him they can be made look nearly identical with careful gamma/brightness setting changes. Maybe I am wrong, feel free to correct me

Now, I will have to head over to AT reviews to find out what this angle independent AF thingy is...

other than that, i don't think there's much difference between the quality of nvidia and ati cards
