Just noticed that as well....690Mhz, 24 pipes on the GTX -should be interesting in a few hours!

Judging by those prices it looks like the XTX is still cheaper then the GTX.
Your looking at an XTX for $499-$520(?) against the 7900 GTX's $580-$600.

Something tellls me two $350 7900 GT's with 3rd party coolers OC'd in SLi would smoke most competition. I mean hell, EVGA's superclocked GT manages 550mhz and 1,580mhz memory using that pesky small heatsink (I think?). So imagine what the better 3rd party ones would pull off. This might be my first SLI set up yet

650-690MHZ for the GTX and 500-550 for the GT. I don't think the GT will be hitting GTX speeds in great numbers, although if all the information we have is correct then the GT should be offering performance between a 7800GTX and 512MB 7800GTX for about $300-$350; seems like a decent deal.

Thats what I thought at first, but to be honest I dont think the one pictured is the superclocked one.
Surely that OC would be impossible with that retard cooler?

If they are shipping the GTX @650 for the default clock and the GT is identical save clock speed then you are talking about cooling a chip that is 'underclocked' by 100MHZ, probably runs fairly cool anyway.

Yeah who knows really. It would be pretty nice if these carsd actually ran that cool... just imagine the OCing potential if these had nice coolers?
At anyrate the down side to the GT's is the 256 MB of memory while sure right now no games take advantage of the extra memory on the 512's I believe I heard games like UT2007 will be able to use up to 1GB of Vram...

hmmm....i wonder if nvidia relaxed the timings on both cards big time

evga oced the gt to 1580 and gtx to 1780?!

ati used 1.1ns memory and they can only be clocked to around 1600
timing must be really tight in comparison to nvidia's

Thanks a lot, you just destroyed my hopes

Totally forgot about the GT's ahving only 256mb.
To me that sucks. Whether games implement 256mb much now is a non-issue, I'm pretty sure games like oblivian, Quake Wars and UT2K07 will make full use of the extra ram.
256mb FTL! Nvidia really has thought this through then. Cheeky sods.

from the pricing of monarchcomputer, it seems like the gt WILL be priced at $350 and gtx at $550

*sigh*....i was kinda hoping for $499 like theinq said

well...it's not the first, but it's yet another untrue article from theinq...hahaha

another interesting note is that

on the description of the 7900 gtx, it specifically stated that the card is "built for window vista"

somehow, nvidia implemented hdcp onto that card?!

course they are more expensive, when things go on sale before release they put the price up, if people want them early, people WILL pay those prices

haha...i just looked at that

the pricing they mentioned sounds good though $299 and $499 respectively, hopefully it holds truth

but the article also mentioned 1.4ns memory used on the gt and it differs from the description from monarchcomputer (1.5ns)

That heatsink sure looks lame. A far cry from what they have on their CO 7800GTs.

the description say that it's built for window vista

but i highly doubt that they're hdcp compliant

I saw some close up pictures of EVGA's 7900GT, but I didn't see the chip required for hdcp. Oh well, I'll keep waiting. Too bad I just fried my 6600GT. I had a Zalman passive heatsink on it and I wanted to make my computer even quieter, so undervolted my intake fan. I was playing UT2004 for couple hours and suddenly my computer shut itself down. I looked down and there was a puff of smoke rising up from the graphic card. It won't display anything anymore, so I got a temporary 6800GS for now.
