so i wont need the wire mod right??..
wire mods also help you bootup - when it cant.

Isn't setting voltage this high dangerous??
i donno - DinoGucci is running @ 2.0v

What is the default voltage setting for highest Ghz available
Intel chip right now?? (2.53Ghz??)

1.5v

jose wire mods are needed when the system will not cold boot when overclocking.
in my case i couldnt cold boot consistantly @ 171fsb.
w/o the wire mod the CPU will only get 1.5v to bootup from the off state.
w/ the mod it now gets 1.7v.
of course my max vcore can be alot higher now too - upto 1.975v in bios

i started a new thread for P4 wire modding - please post those questions there

UPDATE
i passed all my stabilty tests using 1.84v.
its running a little hot (49*C max) so im now gonna lower the voltage to 1.82v and see if its still stable. (and hopfully cooler)
i wanna gather all the info i can before trying for 180fsb

ok we seem to be on to something here....

using the overvolt jumper makes the system & vcore unstable. :Q

Exactly my findings Thugs.

I've had some bluescreens with the jumper on that I didn't get with it off. I think there are a few problems with that jumper besides the fact that it also takes a higher setting in the BIOS to get a given true voltage than it does with the jumper on default to get that same voltage (core).

I think the best way to go to get more voltage is the wire mod and NOT use the overvolt jumper at all (set it to default).

Also, I changed my BIOS to Normal instead of Turbo1 at 150FSB--which apparently does not lock the PCI/AGP dividers--and my benches jumped up a little bit and it's still perfectly stable so far.

Nighthawk69 yep, do the wire mod - ignore the overvolt jumper.
from what im told, the mythical AGP/PCI lock is set for 37PCI / 74AGP. so for you its prolly not much different. you still need a better PSU tho

Camma its a crapshoot. it just makes sense that the bare board would have better chances. right now im @ 2800mhz 175fsb - how could i not recommend this board?

How the heck do you keep temperatures that low with a 27 cfm fan?

what's the stock intel fan rated at again?
