Hey everybody, I'm currently helping out at a local elementary school and they're having an issue with some wireless laptops. The laptops will connect to the network but you can't get onto any webpages. I know that it's connected to the access point just because the laptop says that it's sending and receiving packets. Just for the record the laptops are using Windows 2000 pro and have never been able to get to webpages as far as I know.

Do you have a DHCP server on the network? If not you will need to specify an IP manually. If it does have a server open a command prompt and run ipconfig and see if you are getting an IP. You can also try an ipconfig /renew to try and get an IP from the DHCP if you know there is one and didn't get an IP from it.

Also, it could be misconfigured DNS servers. Can you ping your gateway? What about 216.239.39.99(google.com)?
